I worked 12-hour days as a roofer before becoming a darts star… there’s no chance I would suffer from burnout

DAMON HETA vows he wouldn’t get Premier League “burnout” because he worked 12-hour days as a roofer in Australia!

The Aussie admits breaking into the PDC’s top four Order of Merit is his big target as he has ambitions of playing in the prestigious PL.

He has insisted he will not suffer from burnout[/caption]

World No. 10 Heta reached the semi-final of the US Masters last weekend but was knocked out by Nathan Aspinall despite averaging 104 and thumping in the big fish.

‘The Heat’ has been in good form this year as he won Players Championship 13 and made the final of European Darts Open.

Heta is confident burnout won’t hold him back if he gets a Premier League call-up — claiming the grind of the PDC schedule is easy after years of back-breaking work on roofs Down Under.

He told the Tops and Tales podcast: “Yeah, I’d love getting into that top four and the Premier League.

I find myself pretty conditioned where I don’t think I would be one to be burnt out.

“Players talk about burnout and playing too much. But I practice pretty much four hours every day, two here and two there minimum — sometimes even more.

“I always look back and think, you know what I did? I did 12-hour days, six days a week, roofing.

“If I can’t chuck darts for 12 hours a day, you know what I mean? Because I can always compare it to back then.”

He added: “If I’m ever down about where I am or what I’m doing, I just think, you know what? I’ve come this far.

“I could be doing this or that. Man, I’m very lucky. I’m throwing darts for a living and I’m travelling.

“Even doing an exhibition — you get paid half decent to do an exhibition.

“People want to come see you for four or five hours to chuck some darts and have a bit of fun. Man, that’s insane.”

Former World Cup winner Heta boasts the fourth-highest checkout rate on tour at a tidy 43.13 per cent in 2025.

Heta will return to action next week on the ProTour at the Mattioli Arena.

William Haggas tells me next targets for two of his Royal Ascot stars – but it’s more bad news for Economics

UNLUCKY Wokingham runner-up More Thunder could be supplemented for the Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket while impressive Royal Ascot victor Merchant may well head to Glorious Goodwood.

That’s the latest news from William Haggas as he shuffles plans for some of his stable stars, although options remain on hold for Economics as he continues to recover from injury.

William Haggas said hugely impressive Royal Ascot winner Merchant could end up in the St Leger at the end of the season[/caption]

More Thunder has been an absolute revelation for Haggas, having been trained last term by the now retired Sir Michael Stoute.

Just a year ago this month, More Thunder was beaten at Chester over an extended 1m2f.

A year on, however, the son of Night of Thunder, owned by Saeed Suhail, has raced solely over 6f, scoring at Newmarket twice before coming from last to second – beaten a head – behind Get It in the Wokingham.

He would have won in another stride or two.

Haggas told me: “More Thunder could go to Ireland on the 20th for a Group 2 over 7f or he could be supplemented for the July Cup.

“We will look at the Group 1 over 7f at York as well.

“He was a bit far back and got tangled up in the Wokingham but ran very well.”

Merchant got a huge form boost over the weekend when Serious Contender, the horse he beat in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot, chased home Lambourn in the Irish Derby.

Rated just 90 at Ascot, Merchant will now head into Group races.

“The Gordon Stakes looks the most likely target for Merchant,” Haggas said.

“It’s possible he’s a St Leger horse. But all options are open.

“He could still be a King George contender, and what I can say is he won’t come out of that race at the next forfeit. So we will see.”

Last season’s monster Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes victor Economics missed Royal Ascot through injury and has been absent since October of last year when defeated in the Qipco Champion Stakes.

Economics is going nowhere for the time being.

Haggas said: “As everyone knows he got an injury from which he is recovering but not quickly enough for us.

“We are missing big events like Royal Ascot and the Eclipse.

“I doubt he will be ready for the Irish Champion so we will be looking at later in the season.”

On a brighter note, Godwinson might be upped in class for the Group 3 Prix Messidor.

Haggas said: “He went up 5lb for winning the Lincoln which was a good prize and another 5lb for winning at Newcastle the other day which was much less money which is not ideal.

“But what can you do? I needed to run him and the going on the grass is too firm for him. He might well go to France.”

In other stable news, Haggas remains bullish about the talent of Lake Forest despite the colt beating only two home in the Criterion at York over the weekend.

Lake Forest had been brilliant in Australia back in November, taking the Golden Eagle at Rosehill in terrific fashion from Lazzat, himself a star at Royal Ascot.

“We ran Lake Forest too quick,” said Haggas.

“It was also not a track to come from behind from. It looked like there would be plenty of pace, but the other front runners left Quinault alone – although he did very well – which wasn’t good for us.

!Lake Forest could go for the Lennox at Glorious Goodwood or the Sussex.

!He could easily run second or third in a Sussex. He’s a good horse. He’s got a lot of ability.

!Remember the race he ran at Newmarket as a juvenile in a novice was awful (got beat at 1-3f). Then he came out and won the Gimcrack!”

Cruz Beckham, 20, and girlfriend Jackie, 29, show off £9k Glastonbury tent after partying together at festival

TWENTY-year-old Cruz Beckham has given fans a peek inside his luxury Glastonbury tent after shelling out £9,000-a-night for the luxurious camp.

The son of David and Victoria Beckham ensured that he and girlfriend, Jackie Apostel, 29, were living the high life at the festival in one of the camp’s most expensive and private tents.

The couple were staying in a luxury tent that is understood to have knocked them back £9,000[/caption]

Sharing a slew of snaps from inside their tent – which closely resembled a A-list hotel room – it was clear that the pair had checked themselves into Camp Kerala.

This luxury camp includes Shikar tents which come complete with a luxury king-size bed.

These exquisite tents also come with sheepskin rugs as well as the option for your own private en-suite toilet and shower block.

Forking out for one of these tents starts at £8,225 with the price rising if opting for the en-suite extras.

This covers the cost for two people staying in the tent including their festival ticket entry.

Model and singer Jackie could be seen striking a pose inside the perfectly preened tent.

In another snap, the couple could be seen enjoying a breakfast in bed with their food served on a wooden slate – a far cry from the realities of being in one of the Somerset festival’s regular camps.

The pair appeared to be living it up in style across the full weekend.

Cruz and Jackie have been together since April last year — and Posh and hubby David appear to have none of the problems they do with their eldest son Brooklyn, 26.

He and wife Nicola Peltz, 30, are locked in a feud with his parents and missed David’s 50th birthday celebrations earlier this month.

But Cruz and Jackie were there — and even performed Dolly Parton classic Islands in the Stream at a family dinner.

Jackie appears to have been accepted into the Beckham clan as she spent Christmas with the family at their £60million waterfront mansion in Miami.

She also supported Victoria at her fashion show during Paris Fashion Week in September, and even wore her £990 cream satin cami gown to her runway show.

Jackie was previously part of the Brazilian girl band Schutz, and she gained more than one million plays on her first EP – Reformation a side.

‘Ticking timebomb’ warning over Brit shipwreck over fears WW1 destroyer is leaking deadly MERCURY after mine blast

A SUNKEN British warship is a “ticking timebomb” that will unleash “catastrophic damage” unless action is taken, experts have warned.

The Ministry of Defence is mounting an expedition to the HMS Cassandra, which struck a mine and sank just weeks after the First World War ended.

Experts have warned the ship could unleash ‘catastrophic’ damage[/caption] Map showing the location where the HMS Cassandra sank in the Baltic Sea after striking a mine.

Today she lies in the Baltic Sea, slowly leaking oil near the Estonian island of Saaremaa, where she went down with up to 780 tons of fuel, among other pollutants.

Now a British mission will investigate the wreck, as part of an effort to tackle some 8,500 sunken ships that are threatening “catastrophic damage”.

Lydia Woolley, who’s leading the campaign – dubbed Project Tangaroa – described the danger posed by wrecks like the Cassandra.

She said: “Potentially polluting wrecks pose a great global threat to coastal communities and marine ecosystems.

“Left unmanaged, they could result in the destruction of vital fishing grounds and coastal tourism.

“This would have devastating effects on the marine environment, human health and wellbeing, as well as local and regional economies.”

Marcus Runeson, a Swedish diver who’s been down to the wreck of the Cassandra, said he witnessed oil floating up from the ship.

He said: “When we were on top of the wreck site, there were oil droplets coming up to the surface quite rapidly.

“We could see a new droplet coming up to the surface maybe every 15 seconds.”

And oil isn’t the only risk.

Marcus said the ship was equipped with a number of paravanes – a device that extends outwards from the vessel, intended to snag mines.

These contain several hundred kilos of mercury.

He said: “From oil leakage to mercury, it’s a totally different story in terms of how dangerous it is and the environmental consequences from it.”

Hoping to spur governments into action, Project Tangaroa has now published The Malta Manifesto.

It warns: “We are entering a decade of severely heightened risk of catastrophic damage caused by oil from these wrecks – damage to natural and cultural heritage that cannot be fully remedied.

“The harm to human wellbeing and the economic cost will also be enormous.”

It’s hoped the Cassandra mission will pave the way for other wrecks to be made safe.

Leading the expedition will be the Salvage and Maritime Operations (SALMO) team at the Ministry of Defence.

SALMO boss Matt Skelhorn said: “With the survey of the Cassandra, we’re already putting into action the proof of concept for the Malta Manifesto.

“We look forward to sharing the survey outputs in due course, which will inform how we continue to work with the Estonian government to take action to prevent oil leakage if required.

The ship was otherwise preserved in excellent condition, an expert said[/caption]

“Cassandra has the potential to become a blueprint for future international collaboration when it comes to addressing the risks caused by potentially polluting wrecks.”

Project Tangaroa is described as a global community of experts coordinated by the Lloyd’s Register Foundation, The Ocean Foundation and Waves Group.

And these experts say that action is urgent.

Mark Spalding, president of The Ocean Foundation, said: “We have thousands of environmental time bombs ticking on our ocean floor, with billions in remediation costs and no dedicated funding mechanism.

“The bureaucratic luxury of slow responses doesn’t match the environmental urgency – we need a Finance Task Force with the authority to act before 2039.”

HMS Cassandra, a C-Class cruiser, was lost with 11 of her crew on December 5, 1918.

Today she lies on her starboard side at a depth of roughly 95 metres, with 20 metres of her bow shorn off.

Mr Runeson said she was otherwise preserved in excellent condition, with the advance of rust slowed by her oxygen-free environment.
Yet she would not last indefinitely, he warned.

He said: “Sooner or later, the Cassandra will rust up totally.
“Sooner or later, we have to deal with it, definitely.”

Best casino reload bonuses: Top offers for Irish players

CASINO reload bonuses are promotional offers that reward existing players when they top up their account with a new deposit. They are primarily aimed at retaining loyal players by giving them extra funds to spend or free spins on popular slots to keep the fun going.

These offers are crucial for keeping players entertained and engaged, so operators are constantly trying to outdo each other in offering the best casino reload bonuses on the market.

Top casinos with reload bonuses

🤔 How does a reload bonus work?

A reload bonus is a casino promotion offered to existing players, unlike a welcome bonus, which is reserved for new sign-ups. The main differences between them are frequency and eligibility. While a welcome bonus is a one-time offer for new players, reload bonuses can be claimed regularly (weekly or even daily, depending on the site). They’re a great incentive to keep playing and are often part of ongoing casino loyalty programs or cashback offers.

Reload bonuses are most commonly given as bonus cash funds, but can also come in the form of free spins on specific slot games.

So, how do they work, exactly? To use the most common “extra money” example, when you make another deposit after your first, a casino reload bonus gives you bonus money, often as a percentage match of your deposit amount.

For example, a 50% reload bonus on a €100 deposit gives you an extra €50 in bonus cash to use on your favourite casino games like slots, blackjack, or roulette.

To find the top casino reload bonuses, check the promotions page of your chosen casino site, or look at one of picks among the best online casinos in Ireland and pick your favourite. Some casino sites may require a bonus code, while others automatically apply the offer during your deposit.

To use a reload bonus, make a qualifying deposit using one of the supported payment methods, like Visa, Mastercard, or PaysafeCard, but keep in mind that e-wallets like Neteller and Skrill are often ineligible for these types of promotions.

Make sure to read the T&Cs, especially the wagering requirements—these determine how many times you’ll have to play through the given reload bonus amount before being able to make a withdrawal.

Breaking down the top 10 reload bonuses

In the following section, we’ll take a look at ten operators with the best casino reload bonuses we’ve found in 2025. Some casinos offer better reload deals, while others have larger game libraries or support faster and more secure payment methods, but all of them are well worth your time.

1. TonyBet

From a Drops & Wins tournament with €25,480,000 in prizes to numerous seasonal promotions like Daily Quest, there’s something for everyone. Our favourite promos are the Daily Third Deposit Reload and Monthly Booster. How we’ve ranked the best casino reload bonuses at Irish casinos 👇

Our top priority in ranking the sites with the best casino reload bonuses is the quality of the bonuses themselves, meaning how big the bonus amount or percentage match is, does the bonus have fair wagering requirements, are there any hidden terms and conditions, and what is the overall value offered for our Irish players.

But bonuses are just one part of what makes a casino great, so we also looked at several other key categories, employing our detailed Sun Factor methodology to ensure they meet all of our strict rating criteria.

Game selection

A strong reload bonus should be paired with a diverse range of games, including slots, table games like blackjack, roulette, and even poker. We looked at each site’s slot game library, including popular titles like Book of Dead, as well as their live casino and jackpot options to ensure players have plenty of options available. While reload bonuses are often tied to specific games, having larger and better game selections allows casinos to be more flexible with them.

Security & privacy

Only fully licensed Irish casinos or those with reputable international licences (such as the UK Gambling Commission or Malta Gaming Authority) made our list. When grading casinos, we also looked for robust security protocols, strong data encryption, and clearly written privacy policies, so you can rest assured that your funds, winnings, and personal info are protected when gambling online.

Game fairness & responsible gambling practices

Every casino worth playing uses certified random number generators (RNGs) for fair outcomes on their games and offers responsible gambling tools, like the ability to contact gambling addiction hotlines, set deposit limits, or request cool-off or self-exclusion periods.  These practices reflect the casinos’ commitment to player well-being, not just their bottom line.

Available payment methods

Reload bonuses should be easy to claim.  We favoured sites with a wide selection of eligible payment methods, including bank transfers, debit cards, and e-wallets, and gave special consideration to those that didn’t limit e-wallets like Neteller and Skrill from eligibility for reload bonuses. We also measured processing times to ensure only casinos with fast deposits and withdrawals made our list.

Customer service

Whether you’ve got questions about your promo code, reload bonus or are just wondering about a delayed withdrawal, timely customer support is an essential part of a good casino experience. We prioritised operators offering 24/7 live chat, but also good email support and helpful FAQs so players can get answers to most of their questions without needing to consult an agent.

🤑 The usual types of casino reload bonuses

Reload bonuses come in several forms, often mirroring what’s offered to new players through a welcome bonus. Below are the most common types of reload bonuses you’ll find at casino sites in Ireland.

Free spins

Free spins are a popular reload bonus that gives you a set number of spins to use on the site. The bonus might apply to specific titles or a wider range of slot games. Any winnings are typically credited as bonus cash and may be subject to further wagering requirements

Deposit match bonus

This is the classic and most common reload casino bonus: the casino matches a percentage of your deposit amount with bonus money. For example, a 100% reload on €30 gives you a total of €60 (€30+€30) to play with. These bonuses are often available via promo codes and can be used on slots or table games like baccarat or roulette.

Bonus free bets

Essentially, this is the “free spins” promotion just for sportsbooks. Whereas at a casino you’d get several chances to spin the reels on a particular slot game, here the sportsbook will give you bonus bets to place under certain conditions. As with free spins and deposit match bonuses, these often have pretty strict T&Cs and may have a hard cap on how much players can earn from them.

Cashback

Cashback reload bonuses return a percentage of your losses over a period, which is usually daily, weekly, or monthly. The returned cash can either be real money or bonus funds, depending on the site’s terms and conditions. While they won’t completely annul your losses, it’s a nice way for casinos to cushion the blow for their loyal players.

No wagering bonus

Rare but highly rewarding, no wagering reloads let you keep whatever you win outright. Unlike typical bonus offers, you won’t need to play through your winnings a set number of times before making a withdrawal. These are especially attractive to anyone looking for simple, no-strings rewards with immediate benefits, but are often restricted in other ways, such as capped maximum winnings.

📝 The usual terms and conditions that come with reload bonuses

Like most casino bonuses, reload offers come with important terms and conditions that players should understand before claiming. One of the most common rules involves the so-called wagering requirements: you’ll usually need to bet the bonus amount (or winnings from free spins) a certain number of times before you can request a withdrawal.

For example, a 35x wagering requirement (the most common one you’ll find at casino sites these days) on a €20 bonus means you’ll need to play through €700 worth of casino games or place €700 in qualifying bets before cashing out, if anything remains.

Qualifying deposits are often subject to a minimum deposit amount, and not all payment methods may be eligible. Some casinos exclude deposits via Skrill, Neteller, or Paysafecard, so it’s worth checking the T&Cs on the promotions page. Similarly, bonus funds may only be used on certain slot games or casino games, with restrictions on table games like blackjack or roulette.

Some reload offers also come with a limited activation window, and you may have to claim or use the bonus code within anywhere from 24 hours to one week. This is especially true if the offer is tied to a tournament, special event, or the launch of a new game.

While reload bonuses are certainly a welcome gesture by casinos, always look through the fine print of each promo so you know what to expect regarding the bonus redemption procedure, including eligibility requirements and limits, and promotion expiration dates.

Claiming a casino reload bonus is usually a straightforward process, but it’s good to take it slow and make sure you understand how the bonus will work and what its eligibility criteria are before getting started. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of the process:

  1. Visit the promotions page of your chosen casino site. This is where current promotional offers and bonus codes are listed, so you’ll find your reload bonus here.
  2. Read the terms and conditions carefully. Read your reload bonus promotion’s description carefully and look for details about wagering requirements, qualifying deposits, eligible games, and any restrictions.
  3. Check the available & eligible payment methods. Make sure that you don’t deposit using an ineligible payment method. Some casino bonuses exclude deposits made with Neteller, Skrill, or Paysafecard, so choose a supported option like a debit card or bank transfer.
  4. Make a qualifying deposit.  This may involve entering a promo code, but more commonly, you’ll just have to meet the requirements, and you’ll automatically become eligible for your reload bonus.
  5. Claim the bonus and play the eligible games. Some sites may require you to manually request your reload bonus, while others will automatically credit it once the requirements have been met. Many types of reloads apply to select slot games only, but some may include a larger variety, including table games.
  6. Track your bonus progress. Keep an eye on how much of the wagering requirement for the reload bonus you’ve completed, and when the bonus or bonus cash funds given expire. These often come with tight deadlines, and the last thing you want is to lose potential funds because you took too long to meet the promotion’s cashout requirements.

And that’s all you’ll need to know about claiming casino reload bonuses. Following these steps helps ensure you’ll get the full value from any reload offer and avoid any mistakes that could cost you your bonus.

‘The Beatles didn’t get as much attention’ – Watch David Clifford get mobbed by Kerry fans while leaving Croke Park

AS per usual David Clifford was in hot demand among fans after Kerry ended Armagh’s reign as All-Ireland champions.

Like the entire team, he really kicked into gear in the second half as his haul of 0-7 was second only to Sean O’Shea’s 0-12 total.

Kerry walloped Armagh by 0-32 to 1-21[/caption]

After booking their spot against Tyrone in the semi-finals, fan footage showcased the Fossa sharpshooter thronged by supporters as the panel made their way out of Croke Park.

Former county player John Joe O’Neill captioned his cheery video: “The Beatles did not get as much attention as this KID.”

Among the replies one Cork fan hailed: “Deserves it all, great role model for the GAA and its youth.”

Meanwhile Darren quipped: “The Beatles were good but you would never see John Lennon kicking a two-pointer in Croker when the game is there to be won!”

On a similarly comedic note, Con added: “And there was four of them JJ. Top top player.”

On a day when pundits who labelled Kerry a one-man band were given cause to change their tune, Armagh were the ones left to face the music.

The Kingdom hit all the right notes during a blistering second half that saw them dump the Orchard out.

Trailing by five points after 40 minutes, Kerry hit an unanswered 14 points over the following 15 minutes to end the game as a contest.

It was sweet revenge for Kerry following last year’s semi-final defeat.

But more importantly for boss Jack O’Connor, it was a display that laughed in the face of the criticism his men have faced since the defeat by Meath a fortnight earlier.

O’Connor said: “A Kerry team written off in Croke Park are dangerous because it just takes a bit of the heat off.

“It allows them to play with a kind of freedom and abandon. That’s what you saw there.

“Our mantra this morning was we have to flip the script. The script has been written that Armagh have this game won and we have to flip that script.

“Every breaking ball you win, every turnover you win, every score is a chip off the block and it’s a way of flipping that script. We did it block by block.”

ABSENT STARS

No part was played at Croker by Paul Geaney, Mike Breen, Tadhg Morley, Diarmuid O’Connor, Tony Brosnan or Barry Dan O’Sullivan.

Tom O’Sullivan limped off in the first half and Paudie Clifford was only fit enough to be subbed on at the break.

Still, O’Connor acknowledged that his introduction ‘gave everybody a lift’ and the Fossa man had a big impact as the Munster champions seized control.

In his post-match press briefing, the Kerry gaffer also referenced a mention of Clifford’s younger brother David in an article penned by Joe Brolly.

He underlined: “One of the great motivators in life is trying to prove people wrong. We were being portrayed as a one-man team.

“I saw somebody writing this morning that said the only Kerry player worthy of being called a Kerry player was David Clifford.

“Now, David is a great player but David will tell you that there was a fair supporting cast there today.”
