Chelsea have paid Brighton £257MILLION in three years with Joao Pedro becoming 14th player or staff member to be poached
CHELSEA have paid Brighton a whopping £257MILLION over the last few years – enough money to build THREE stadiums.
The Blues have pinched 14 players and staff members – the latest being £55million striker Joao Pedro – from their Premier League rivals since Todd Boehly took over as co-owner and chairman in 2022.

Young stars Zak Sturge and Shumaira Mheuka became the first players to make the switch in the summer window, just over a month into the Boehly era.
Full-back Marc Cucurella then followed in a £62m transfer.
Then, Chelsea went for Brighton‘s head coach, Graham Potter.
Boehly had made the decision to sack Thomas Tuchel just a few weeks into the 2022-23 season, with Potter viewed as the perfect man to lead the club forward long-term.
As part of a deal with Brighton, whereby the Blues paid in excess of £21m in compensation, Potter was joined by five staff members – Billy Reid, Bjorn Hamberg, Bruno Saltor, Ben Roberts and Kyle Macauley.
However, the 50-year-old was dismissed after just seven months, with everyone bar Macauley and Roberts following him.
In December 2022, Paul Winstanley became another person to swap the Amex Stadium for Stamford Bridge when he was appointed sporting director.
Chelsea were forced to pay out another compensation package as a result.

And in February 2024, Sam Jewell made the switch to lead the club’s global scouting network and take charge of player negotiations.
Jewell’s arrival in west London saw him become the eighth staff member to complete the move from Sussex.

One of Chelsea’s most expensive signings also came from Brighton.
The Blues forked out £115m to sign Moises Caicedo from the Seagulls in August 2023 after fighting off interest from Liverpool.
That same month, they also sealed a £25m deal for goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
While Caicedo has impressed, Sanchez is now at risk of losing his No1 spot after struggling at Stamford Bridge.
Now in line to join the five players who have taken the Brighton to Chelsea pathway is Joao Pedro.
Enzo Maresca and Co beat Newcastle to a deal for the striker at the weekend.
The 23-year-old is now expected to complete the £55m switch in the coming days.
Once the deal is finalised, Chelsea would have spent roughly £257m on Brighton players and personnel over the last three years.
That is almost enough money to fund the construction of THREE more Amex Stadiums.
As well as Pedro, the UEFA Conference League winners are also closing in on a £55.5 deal for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens.
The 20-year-old has been pushing for a move to London since the start of the transfer window.

Bafana star to shun Chiefs and Pirates, wants Sundowns move
Fulham plot shock transfer swoop to beat Man Utd to 6ft 4in striker Tolu Arokodare who was top-scorer in Belgium
FULHAM are plotting a summer move for Genk’s star striker Tolu Arokodare as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season.
The Nigerian forward, who was in scintillating form last season, finished as the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League with an impressive 17 league goals and 23 in total across all competitions.

Standing at 6’4”, Arokodare is a towering presence in the box and possesses the pace and finishing ability to trouble any defence.
His brilliant performances have not gone unnoticed with Manchester United and AC Milan also monitoring the 24-year-old’s progress.
Ruben Amorim‘s side are keen on signing Viktor Gyokeres but reports suggest Arokodare, considered a rising star in European football, is also on their radar.
Sources close to the player have revealed to SunSport that Arokodare is eager to secure a move to the Premier League.
Fulham have already held exploratory talks with the striker’s entourage following his recent switch of agency, a move aimed at facilitating a transfer to England.
The Cottagers boast a growing contingent of Nigerian players, with Arokodare understood to share a strong bond with compatriots Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey.
Arokodare’s powerful displays in Belgium have made him one of Europe’s most sought-after young strikers.
Fulham are determined to add firepower to their squad after a mixed Premier League campaign.

Manager Marco Silva is believed to be a huge admirer of Arokodare’s physicality and clinical finishing and sees him as an ideal fit for Fulham’s style of play.
The striker is valued at around £15million.
Given his exploits in the Belgian league he could prove to be a major coup for Fulham if he can replicate that form in the Premier League.
Last season, Fulham finished 10th but goals were hard to come by.
Raul Jimenez was the only player to reach double digits, scoring 12 goals, with Alex Iwobi contributing nine.
One of the key areas the club is looking to strengthen is goal output.
They hope to bring in players capable of reaching double figures in the Premier League as they aim to solidify their top-flight status and push for the increasingly competitive European spots now available to English clubs.
‘I didn’t know that’ say drivers over little-known symbol on Irish motorways

THERE are little-known symbols on Irish motorways that help motorists avoid delays during incidents – and some drivers “didn’t know” about them.
Dublin Fire Brigade has taken to Instagram to share the purpose of these signs.

Over the weekend, Dublin Fire Brigade responded to a serious road traffic collision on the M1 northbound which caused a tailback of 14 kilometres.
Traffic can become heavily congested during incidents like these and cause major delays for motorists.
And to help manage these situations, a system of coloured, shaped symbols is used on motorways to indicate alternative routes that are unknown to many people.
The most common symbols include orange and black circles, diamonds and green triangles that each represent a different diversion route.
These symbols appear on overhead signs when there is an incident that affects the normal flow of traffic.
Dublin Fire Brigade said: “Earlier this evening we responded to a road traffic collision on the M1 northbound.
“A tailback of approximately 14km of traffic was reported.
“Did you know these symbols offer an alternative route off motorways!”
Drivers are advised to follow these symbols to safely exit the motorway and take a pre-planned diversion.
Along the diversion route, the same coloured symbols are displayed on fixed signs to guide motorists through the alternative path.
These diversion routes are carefully planned and managed by Transport Infrastructure Ireland as part of the national traffic management system.
Taking to the comments section, some drivers revealed that they were unaware of these symbols and their purpose.
One person wrote: “Nope, I didn’t know that.”
Another said: “I didn’t know that either!”
This comes after the NCT services revealed a problem that is one of the common causes of NCT test failure – and it can damage your car.
NCT test failure
They said: “Do not let your oil levels slide, or you may be in for a surprise!
“NCT Inspectors may refuse to test the vehicle because low oil levels can cause issues with exhaust emissions tests or damage your engine.”
The low engine oil levels cause friction to increase significantly within the engine, resulting in decreased fuel efficiency as more power is being used to keep the engine running.
The oil helps to keep everything operating smoothly, but the engine will lose oil over time, and the engine will seize up if it runs out completely.
The NCT is now encouraging drivers to take these steps in advance of their test and regular checks, such as:
To check your engine oil, turn off your engine and let it cool for approximately five to ten minutes.
Locate the dipstick, pull it out, wipe it clean with a piece of tissue, and insert it back into the tube.
Then pull the dipstick back out and check where the oil is; you will usually have a minimum and maximum measure.
Gloating migrants take selfies on packed dinghy headed for UK – as Labour slammed over ‘merry-go-round’ deal with France
GLOATING migrants have been spotted snapping cheery selfies as they attempt to cross the Channel in a bid to enter the UK.
Pictures seen today show dinghies full of celebrating illegal migrants setting off across the Channel.

Pictures show one boat, laden to the brim with migrants, setting off from a beach in France as one of them snaps selfies.
The boat was seen setting out from Gravelines, France, today, June 30.
Images show the migrants decked out in bright orange lifejackets and holding floatation devices.
One of the men on the dinghy, sitting near the front, can be seen snapping a selfie in celebration.
He holds both hands in the air in joy as he and his mates set out across the Channel.
Others on the boat can also be seen pumping their arms in the air as the dinghy sets off for Britain’s shores.
Some further back in the boat look to be waving for the celebratory snaps.
PM Sir Keir Starmer has come under increasing pressure to turn the tide on a record year of small boats after promising to “smash the gangs” in the election.
It comes after Labour was slammed for signing up to a “migrant merry-go-round” with France.
Ministers are expected to reach a “one in, one-out” returns deal with the French in a bid to deter small boats.
The deal was branded a “gimmick” by Tory Shadow Home Secretary Chris Phillip.
Starmer has previously admitted that the small boats crisis was “deteriorating.”
Record numbers of migrants have crossed the channel under Labour’s government.

Many are now finding easy work and free accommodation once reaching the UK, incentivising others to follow.
A Sun investigation revealed how Channel migrants were picking up jobs as food delivery couriers earning up to £250 a week after arriving in the UK.
The investigation showed how migrants across the country could work illegally from asylum hotels as fast-food delivery drivers within hours of arriving in Britain.
Bosses of Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat were hauled in by the Home Office to discuss the issue.
A Sun reporter successfully completed a number of deliveries just last week after Pretending to be an asylum seeker from Afghanistan.
He purchased the login to the delivery app’s service from a seller called Danyel.
Small boat migrants get illegal £1k-a-week delivery rider jobs within HOURS of landing in UK
By Thomas Godfrey
CHANNEL migrants are working as fast-food delivery riders within hours of arriving in the UK while being housed and fed at taxpayer expense.
They rake in nearly £1,000 a week operating from asylum accommodation, used as hubs for black-market work on apps like Deliveroo and Just Eat.
Migrants in hotels are banned from working in any circumstances if they have been in Britain for less than 12 months.
Even those here longer are not allowed to legally work as delivery drivers.
But at hotels around the country, including in London, Bournemouth and Manchester — each one housing hundreds of asylum seekers — we snapped migrants in branded jackets for Deliveroo, JustEat and Uber Eats. Some rode £1,000 e-bikes while others used public-hire bicycles.
Last night Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick said: “This crucial Sun investigation reveals yet another appalling abuse of our immigration system.
“These delivery companies know exactly what they’re doing. It’s a disgrace and they need to be made to feel consequences.”
Katie Price looks slimmer than ever as she strips off to a bikini in Dubai after hitting back at fans’ weight loss worry
KATIE Price showed off her toned figure after fans fretted over her slimmer frame.
The former glamour model is enjoying a sunny holiday in Dubai and stripped down to a bikini and shorts for a sea side sail on a luxury boat.

Katie, 47, who first sparked worry over her shrinking appearance at the start of the year, recently hit out at critics on Snapchat as she zoomed in on a set of scales.
But she put the criticism behind her for her Middle Eastern holiday and shared snaps of herself on the boat.
She wore a floral bikini top, matched with white linen shorts as she smiled and gave a peace sign over her head.
“I took over a boat in Dubai and became Captain Pricey, and they never had a captain like me before,” she captioned the photo which she shared to her Snapchat and Instagram accounts.
Katie has been showing off her body while on holiday in Dubai, including in a bright orange bikini.
But fans have been hounding her about her weight loss and in attempt to put their minds at ease, Katie showed them exactly how much she weighed.
The TV personality, believed to be around 5ft 4in tall, showed her weight as 7st 12lb.
In an attempt to put fears to rest Katie, said in the video: “Everyone is so obsessed with my weight. This is what I weigh. That. That is what I weigh.”
The podcaster previously tried to shut down fears over her weight loss, saying she decided to slim down after a long-standing foot injury and attempts at IVF made her put on weight.
Speaking on her Snapchat in May, Katie said: “Yes I’ve lost weight.
“Yes that what I’ve wanted to do, I’ve wanted to lose weight.
“Because the past three, four years ago when I broke my feet and I was in a wheelchair for 10 months because they said I’d never walk again, and obviously you put weight on being in a wheelchair.
“And then I did all the IVF stuff, that also puts on weight.
“So yeah I did put on weight and I hated it, I felt uncomfortable and it wasn’t me.”
She then explained how, after finishing her failed IVF treatment, she became more active with healthy eating.

POP sensation Dua Lipa closed out her sold-out Dublin show with the perfect Irish celebration.
The One Kiss singer partied into the early hours of the morning in O’Donoghue’s pub surrounded by her family and famous pals.

Dua put on a spell-binding show to 80,000 screaming fans in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday night.

The hitmaker posted a series of snaps of the wild night to her Instagram.
