The Masked Singer panel in shock shake-up as judge forced to step down – and his replacements are revealed
THE MASKED Singer panel will undergo a shock shake-up this series as one of the judges was forced to step down through a schedule clash.
New panellist Maya Jama was already recruited to replace Rita Ora as the pop star had to commit to filming the American version of the show at the same time.
ITV has lined up two big names to replace Mo Gilligan as he tours in the US[/caption] They will join Davina McCall, Jonathon Ross and newly recruited Maya Jama[/caption]Now The Sun can reveal that comedian Mo Gilligan had to duck out because he had tour dates to cover in the US.
ITV has lined up two big names to replace Mo for the episodes, though.
Celebrated actor Richard E Grant will cover the February 8 episode, whilst last year’s winner Danny Jones is in for the final on February 15.
The series has already attracted other huge guest judges including Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, actress Suranne Jones and Vicky McClure, plus Olympian Tom Daley.
The McFly star was crowned the winner of The Masked Singer UK in the fifth season of the singing competition.
Danny, who hails from Bolton in Greater Manchester, has been performing with the band since 2003.
After several performances and much speculation the star was revealed to be Piranha.
He blew the panel, audience and viewers away with his sensational cover of Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” in the final.
Discussing his victory at the time, Danny told host Joel Dommett: ”I’ve had the most amazing time, I can escape behind here and just be Piranha and sing these songs.
“I’ve learnt so much, I’m able to sing higher now just from being on this show. I am so happy, thank you!”
In addition to his success on stage, Danny has also enjoyed several stints on-screen, participating in popular television competitions such as I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, where he took the crown as King of the jungle.
Richard E Grant is a British actor, screenwriter and director known for his roles in Withnail and I (1987), Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), Can You Ever Forgive Me? (2018), and Star Wars: Episode IX (2019).
Grant also appeared in the sixth season of the hit television series Game of Thrones.
His other television roles include Frasier (2004), A Series of Unfortunate Events (2019) and Suspect (2022).
Meanwhile, viewers think that the voice behind the fuzzy bear in the current series may be Chaser, Shaun Wallace of ITV’s The Chase.
An eagle eared viewer said: “Just gonna throw out Shaun Wallace as a rando guess for Bear.”
Another used his Chaser name from the ITV gameshow to put his name in the mix: “Dark destroyer from the chase as the bear? #MaskedSingerUK”
Once the name out there others seemed to jump on the idea with one TikTok viewer saying “Shaun Wallace The Chase” and got a flurry of replies like “I can hear this now!” and “Only heard the first few words and that was already my guess.”
The Masked Singer airs Saturdays on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.

IRAN has unveiled its biggest ever drone dubbed “The Gaza” that can carry a deadly 13-bomb load.
The drone was revealed to the world by Iran’s military air force during a huge weapons drill.
The Gaza is Iran’s biggest-ever unmanned war drone, and is now fully operational[/caption] The lethal drone successfully took out eight targets during a weapons drill[/caption] The aircraft can carry up to 13 bombs[/caption]The enormous unmanned machine has a vast 22-metre wingspan and weighs more than 3,000kg.
Footage flaunting the new weapon shows the drone cruising through the skies and blasting the earth with bombs.
Fireballs explode hundreds of metres below as bombs plummet from the drone.
The Gaza itself is shaped like a small aircraft with two flat wings and a propeller at the back.
The video demonstrates the drone seamlessly going through the motions – including taxiing, take-off, operation of the landing gear and touch-down.
Other footage shows the bomber’s scope as it strikes targets in the cross hairs with pinpoint accuracy.
According to The Aerospace Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), the drone can cruise around non-stop for 35 hours and hit speeds of 350kmph.
It can support a payload of at least 500kg, meaning it can be stocked with 13 deadly bombs kitted out with AI capabilities.
The drone, with a sprawling range of 1,000km, was first announced in May 2021, but has now been declared fully operational.
During the weapons exhibition, Iran obliterated eight targets using the drone’s precision bombing system.
Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the IRGC, said that his force’s drone had launched AI-enabled missiles during the major drill in the Persian Gulf, code-named the Great Prophet Authority.
The nickname is to acknowledge Iran’s Palestinian ally, but the drone’s technical name is the Shahed-149.
The weapon is similar to America’s Reaper drone, which has been used in numerous combat operations including in Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen.
It is thought the Iranian creation uses either a Chinese or a Russian navigation system after Iran made deals with the two countries in 2021 and 2022.
The drone has a huge wingspan of 22m, and is shaped like a small plane[/caption] The bombing system is able to take out targets with pinpoint accuracy[/caption]This means it does not need to reply on the commonly-used GPS system.
Iran has a history of ripping-off US technology – particularly drones.
The most famous example is the Shahed 171 Simorgh, or which was a copycat of the stealthy US RQ-170.
One of these machines was brought down in Iran in 2011, supposedly using electronic warfare, which allowed the Islamic nation to “reverse engineer” the drone.
A number of Reaper drones have also been captured by Iran, which they could have mimicked to build the Gaza.

LOVE Island’s India Reynolds has taken a cheeky savage swipe at Scott Thomas now that she’s back in the UK.
The star was dumped from the island last week alongside Marcel Somerville, but had spent the first week getting closer to Scott Thomas.
India took a cheeky swipe at Scott in a TikTok video[/caption]However, their potential romance ground to a halt after a brutal game of Truth or Dare.
After India declared him the ‘most calculated in the villa’, shortly after he saw his head turn towards bombshell Tina Stinnes, Scott didn’t look too happy.
It prompted him to declare: “That’s just given me the ick mate. Big.”
But the swipe against her doesn’t seem to have phased India, and in a TikTok in her car she is seen lipsyncing to a trend saying: “Did I say that? Did I? Do you know what, I don’t remember saying that.”
She wrote across the clip: “Scott after calling me an ick.”
Fans were quick to support her, saying she was “robbed” from her space on the show, with India sending back love hearts in response.
After leaving the villa, India admitted she had her eye on someone else on the show – but didn’t make a move because of their age.
“I think if Luca was a bit older then maybe Luca,” India exclusively told The Sun.
“I did think he was really funny. He’s gorgeous, but he is very young.”
India added: “I think Luca was struggling because obviously last time he went in, everyone was a similar age to him, so this time maybe it was a little bit harder for him.”
She also added she didn’t appreciate Ekin-Su ‘stirring the pot’ and influencing the decision that effectively cost India her place on the show.
She said: “I was a little bit disappointed with Ekin-Su’s encouragement for Tina to go with Scott [Thomas], but Tina was a bombshell and she had to do what she had to do.
“I guess everyone’s in there for what they want.”
Love Island All Stars continues weeknights at 9pm on ITV2.

PREM clubs could field SEVEN teams in the Champions League next season.
But only if Manchester City or Aston Villa blow up in the Prem yet still claim the European crown – and Spurs or Manchester United end their seasons of toil with Uefa glory.
Manchester City could qualify for the Champions League by winning the competition[/caption] Nottingham Forest are a surprise package pushing for qualification to the UEL[/caption]Liverpool are already guaranteed to make the last eight of this season’s competition, with Arsenal and Villa able to join them with wins in their final league stage matches on Wednesday.
City will qualify for the intermediate knock-out stage if they beat Bruges at The Etihad, with Pep Guardiola’s side still having their fate in their own hands despite last week’s debacle in Paris.
And it is City’s unexpected failings, at home and overseas, that could help the Prem go seven-up in Europe’s biggest competition next term.
England is guaranteed four slots in the tournament by virtue of the nation sitting top of the five-year Uefa coefficient table.
But the likely qualification of all seven English sides across the three competitions for the knock-out phase, with potentially six going straight to the last 16, puts the Prem firmly on course to finish in the top two for this season – earning an additional slot in the Champions League.
England could be up to four full coefficient points – with wins, draws and qualification bonuses for each club divided by the number of teams entered at the start of the season – ahead of third-placed Spain at the end of the initial phase on Thursday, when Spurs and United seek to ensure top eight finishes in the Europa League.
If City or Villa were to lift the Champions League trophy in Munich on May 31 and finish OUTSIDE the Prem top five, they would be able to defend their crown without it impacting on the sides above them.
And if that all happened, in tandem with United or Spurs winning the Europa League, then England would have seven teams in the big one, plus two in the Europa League.

Chelsea will qualify for the Europa League if they win the Conference League – they topped the six game table after winning all their league stage matches – although the Blues still harbour ambitions of making the top five and qualifying for the main competition.
The old system would only have allowed a maximum of five clubs from one association to feature in the Champions League.

In the rare instance that an English club would win the Champions League and Europa League while finishing outside of the top four, then fourth place would be dropped into the Europa League.
In an extreme case, England could even have 11 teams in European competition.
It would see the normal seven spread across the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.
It would also see the extra UEL place and title holders of each European competition if they finished outside of a league qualifying spot.
New Champions League format is a snorefest
By Dan King
UEFA sold the idea of expanding the Champions League from 32 to 36 teams, with each playing eight games instead of six in the opening phase, as a way of creating more competitiveness and excitement.
The biggest clubs would have two matches against their peers, rather than having to wait until the knockout stage to meet.
The smaller clubs would meet teams of a similar level twice and have a chance of tasting victory that was so hard to achieve if you were the bottom seed in a group of four.
Ignoring for a moment the fact that the real motivation was the simple equation of more games = more money, the theory itself already looks flawed.
None of the matches between European giants has delivered a compelling contest yet.
And why would they? At the start of the long season with more matches in it, why would any team with ambitions to win things in the spring, go out all guns blazing in the autumn?
Especially when they know they have six games NOT against big sides to make sure they accrue enough points to qualify at least for the play-off round (and even more games).
There is even less jeopardy than before.
