Golf parked at entrance to international airport in short-term spot for a YEAR racks up eye-watering six-figure fine

A VW Golf parked for over a year in a short-stay spot at the entrance to an international airport has racked up an eye-watering six-figure fine.

The owner will been hit by a crippling £170,000 bill after leaving their motor outside Berlin airport – if they can be identified.

They grey Golf seems to have been abandoned and its owner is currently unknown, despite the best efforts of airport staff.

Vehicles are supposed to use the carpark only for short periods of time.

The first ten minutes are free, 15 minutes costs £4.20, and every additional minute adds £1.60.

An hour in the carpark sets drivers back a hefty £19.30.

These rates mean that the daily parking fee outside the German airport is a whopping £464.

These steep prices explain how the car accrued such a ridiculous penalty.

Airport staff and the local authority are stumped over what to do with the car.

They have no idea who it belongs to or why it was abandoned in the short-stay parking spot for such a long time.

German newspaper Bild reported that one theory suggests the car was stolen and then dumped.

Another German newspaper, Berliner Zeitung, asked cops from Hanover and Berlin about the car, but there was no sign of it in any records.

Stuttgart-based company APCOA Deutschland GmbH runs the airport’s carpark, and its manager told the newspaper they were aware of the unusual case and in contact with the relevant authorities.

With no idea where the owner is, it seems unlikely that the £170,000 fine will ever be paid.

APCOA said: “Whether parking fees owed in this context can be collected depends on whether the debtor can be identified and has the necessary financial means.”

An abandoned Saab dealership was visited by a group of urban explorers last year who uploaded the footage online.

The eerie showroom recently featured on the YouTube channel Forgotten Buildings.

In the video, the curious YouTubers can be seen entering the building through a gap in the wall, and coming into a long-abandoned room covered in dirt and muck, with paper, trash and boxes scattered across the floor.

Curiously, plants are still growing in the corner of the room, presumably due to water getting into the building through the ceiling, while a creepy children’s slide is propped up in the corner.

But most amazingly, the centre of the large room is taken up by three unsold Saab models.

The Saabs, which appear to be 9-3s – the final cars the Swedish marque built before they entered financial difficulties – are missing their wheels, lights, and other valuable parts.

But their original price tags remain, showing that the cars were once on sale for around £9,000 before the dealership closed.

The spot enjoys everything you could need for a hassle-free day at the beach, including facilities and amenities.

The water is safe for swimming and even enjoys warm temperatures, so anyone can brave a quick swim.

There are also sunbeds to rent for those who want to work on their tan or enjoy a good book.

The beach also has plenty of activities on offer from games in the sand to water sports.

BEYOND THE BEACHES

Holidaygoers can try their hand at surfing, paddle boarding, and even jet skiing.

A major bonus is the pubs and restaurants that line the back of the beach, perfect for enjoying a post-swim pick-me-up.

Another popular beach is Playa Mal Pas, a quieter spot but no less beautiful.

Offering stunning views of the coastline and city nearby, visitors can enjoy warm, safe water for swimming and a spot on the golden sand to relax.

Beyond the beaches, Benidorm has loads more on offer, from historic attractions to buzzing nightlife.

The Old Town of the city is famous for its winding cobblestone streets and colourful buildings.

It’s the perfect place to get lost in for a day, taking in the charming buildings and historical sights.

One great way to experience the Old Town is by taking a guided walking tour that will talk you through all the sights and stops along the way.

Another must-do while in the city is visiting Aqualandia, Benidorm’s great water park.

The huge park is perfect for thrill seekers and families alike, with something on offer for all ages.

It includes multiple swimming pools as well as a wave pool and a lazy river.

There are steep and fast slides for adrenaline junkies, but also more relaxed options for toddlers.

LOTS ON OFFER

The park has a handy system that labels each attraction depending on how exciting it is.

There are also plenty of restaurants and snack spots on site to keep you fuelled throughout the day.

Back in the city, a trip to Benidorm wouldn’t be complete without a night out.

The city has plenty on offer for those who want to dance the night away or who prefer an evening of culture.

The Spanish coast is famous for its fresh and delicious seafood, so why not start the evening by sampling some of the local cuisine?

Alicante is also known for producing delicious wine, so an evening out for dinner is a real treat.

MUST SEE SPOT

After that, why not immerse yourself in the local culture and enjoy a flamenco show?

For those who want to spend the night doing something a little more fast paced, Benidorm is known for its buzzing nightlife.

Many clubs stay open until the early hours of the morning, offering brilliant DJs and pints at €4.

For those looking for a brilliant night out, Calle Gerona is the spot to be.

The area stretches from the buzzing new town to the beginning of the Old Town, and offers everything you need for a night out.

The streets are lined with karaoke bars, cocktails spots, and dance clubs perfect for a night out.

Heartbreaking tributes for ‘adventurous’ Dublin tourist, 38, killed ‘doing what she loved’ in mid-air paragliding fall

A DUBLIN-based woman who died in a horrific paragliding accident after slipping from her harness mid-air has been remembered as someone who “loved being in the sky”.

Paulina Biskup, a Polish national, took to the skies at the Aguapanela paragliding site in Roldanillo, west of Bogota in Columbia last Tuesday.

Paulina, who lived in Dublin and graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2010, had gone to jump with her partner and a group of friends.

The 38-year-old had taken off in the paraglide just minutes before experiencing difficulties.

It is not yet known if her harness was checked by someone else before she took off.

The young woman slipped and fell from the harness, which was thought to not have been properly secured before she took off.

Paulina’s pals have told how the young woman died “doing what she loved most”.

Friends and Fellow Pilots of the Free Flight Community, who have set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for Paulina’s family, said: “It is with profound sadness that we share the devastating loss of Paulina, a bright and adventurous soul whose passion for life was an inspiration to everyone she met.

“Paulina was someone who embraced life’s beauty with unmatched energy and joy. She loved being in the sky and explore new beautiful places.

“Tragically, Paulina passed away while doing what she loved the most, soaring through the skies like a bird, paragliding in Colombia with her friends.

“Her sudden departure has left an unimaginable void in the hearts of all who knew her, especially her family and her loving partner.

“Their bond was one of deep love, shared adventures, and unwavering support for one another.”

The group told how, as those who loved Paulina grieve their heartbreaking loss, her family faces the “difficult challenge” of managing unexpected financial burdens.

This includes the cost of repatriating Paulina back to her home country and covering funeral expenses.

‘ENSURE PAULINA’S LIFE IS CELEBRATED’

The Free Flight Community continued: “This is an overwhelming and painful time for them, and we want to offer every bit of support we can to help ease their burden.

“We are reaching out to you – friends, and compassionate supporters – to ask for your help in honouring Paulina’s memory and supporting her family during this incredibly difficult period.

“Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a meaningful difference.

“Your generosity will not only assist with practical costs but will also provide some peace of mind for the family.

“Together, we can help ensure Paulina’s life is celebrated with the love and dignity she deserves.”

Authorities in Roldanillo said an investigation into the accident is underway.

Other guesses for Bush have included Natalie Cassidy and Morgana Robinson
ITV

Now viewers have put together two of the clues given by the character and insisted it’s Baby Reindeer star Jessica Gunning.

There have been nods to Australia and Doctor Who during Bush’s VTs.

And one fan wrote on social media: “Could it not be Jessica Gunning?

“She was an Australian backpacker in Inside No. 9 and was in a small role in the episode Partners in Crime in Doctor Who in 2008.”

Jessica starred as Martha in the 2024 Netflix series Baby Reindeer.

For her portrayal of Martha she won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress.

But fans previously predicted a hilarious twist for the Bush reveal.

As well as Jessica, EastEnders legend Natalie Cassidy has been a top giess from viewers.

And it’s also been heavily suggested Bush could be Morgana Robinson doing her famous impression of the Sonia Fowler actress.

One wrote: “Bush does sound like Natalie Cassidy but would love it to be Morgana Robinson doing her Natalie Cassidy impression.”

Another said: “I was thinking Natalie Cassidy but then I remember Morgana doing a brilliant Natalie impression on her show…”

Someone else commented: “Bush is probably Morgana Robinson doing a Sonia impression.”
