A BRITISH man has been killed in a massive avalanche at a ski resort in the French Alps.

The 55-year-old died after being swept away by an avalanche in an off-piste sector in the Chamonix valley, at the foot of Mont Blanc.

The tragedy unfolded on Tuesday afternoon at Grand Montets, Argentiere.

The victim was discovered at 4.35pm by members of the ski patrol, cops said.

As they were preparing to close the slopes for the day, they noticed an avalanche stretching two-thirds of a mile down the slope.

While inspecting the area they discovered the victim’s elbow, which had not been completely buried.

Medics were flown on to the mountain by helicopter but, tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rescuers scoured the area for two hours in search of other possible victims.

The prefecture of the Haute-Savoie said in a statement: “A very large avalanche occurred in the Grands Montets ski area, in the Herse sector.

“Due to very unfavorable weather conditions and the significant risk of a second avalanche, the rescue operation was halted late in the evening.

“The checks carried out confirm a provisional assessment of one victim.”

The mountain police said: “The victim was a 55-year-old man of English origin.

“The reasons for the triggering of this kilometre-long and 400-metre-wide flow are currently unknown and an investigation is underway.”

Local reports said the man was skiing his 11th descent from the Herse chairlift.

The avalanche risk was rated on the European Avalanche Danger Scale as four out of five, meaning “high”.

Strong winds in the afternoon led to the closure of the mountain’s highest lift, the Bochard gondola.

The prefecture urged skiers to “imperatively respect the precautionary instructions given by the resorts and public services”.

LOVE Island has revealed its latest dumped stars – as Maya Jama returned to axe three favourites in a mass exit.

Several past islanders are currently looking for love once again in the latest All Stars edition.

However tonight’s episode saw three journeys simultaneously come to an end.

Nas Majeed, Kaz Crossley and Montel McKenzie were all dumped in a dramatic triple exit.

It came as the group enjoyed a party in Vibe Club – only for host Maya to interrupt with an announcement.

Asking the cast to form a line in front of her, Maya added: “Islanders, I’m glad you’ve been having a bit of fun, but things are obviously about to get serious.

“The public have been voting for their favourite girl and their favourite boy.”

Maya then revealed that the public picked Luca and Elma as their favourites.

She added that the two girls and two boys who received the least amount of votes would be vulnerable and at risk of being dumped from the Island immediately.

In addition to Nas, Kaz and Montel, fellow islander Tina Stinnes was also on the chopping block.

Luca and Elma were told they were the ones deciding which Islander stays… and which three were to be dumped.

Bombshell Tina – who has been growing closer to Scott Thomas – was given a reprieve, while the other three were all eliminated.

Here is a look back at their respective time in the All Stars villa.

KAZ CLASH

Series 4 islander Kaz, 30, entered the All Stars villa on Day 1 – unlike her previous Casa Amor arrival.

Addressing how she felt post-exit, Kaz shared: “I feel very excited to get back to my family and friends and I feel proud of myself.

“I feel like I stayed true to myself and I really enjoyed my time in there.”

During her time in the villa, Kaz found herself in a love triangle with pal Elma Pazar – over semi-pro footballer Ronnie Vint.

Having been coupled with Elma – whom he’d just kissed – Ronnie snogged Kaz in the Secret Garden just moments after.

Meanwhile, fans were shocked to learn Kaz and Elma had been friends for five years.

Having enjoyed not just one, but two kisses, the pair decided they better tell Elma.

Kaz quickly confessed: “I went with Ronnie to the Secret garden and we kissed.”

Looking shocked, Elma replied: “Oh… oh… OK… let me just take a minute to process that.”

She added: “I’m not cross at you cause I’ve told you to go and have a chat with him. I’m more disappointed in him.”

Initially, Kaz had been coupled with dancer Curtis Pritchard as decided by the public.

On Day 4, however, she recoupled with series 8 star Luca Bish.

Most recently, a delighted Kaz was picked by Montel McKenzie during a “daytime steal” – though not without some drama.

As for Montel, the series 10 alum entered All Stars as a bombshell on Day 11.

He arrived in the villa alongside fellow newcomer Harriett Blackmore – and just 48 hours later, they were given the opportunity for the “daytime steal”.

Last week, a smitten Catherine Agbaje told Montel he had “walked in at the perfect time” during a chat with him.

The pair had originally appeared together during series 10, two years ago, but didn’t couple up.

After he chose Kaz, Catherine confronted Montel and admitted she thought she would be picked.

During the awkward chat,  Catherine explained: “I wasn’t upset at you, I think I was shocked by you because I thought you were talking about me…”

Smirking, Montel admitted: “Oh…yeah I can see why… the main reason is the fact I’ve known you for a while and if something was gonna happen, it would have…”

He continued: “I think you’re an unreal person but it has been explored…”

Confused, Catherine replied: “it hasn’t really been explored…”.

Viewers were furious, having gotten the impression she had been led on.

One wrote: “Montel you can learn and explore more with Kaz when your voted out of the villa x”

A second remarked: “Get Montel home NOW.”

While a third added: “Bruh just leave Montel alone. He’s a walking red flag.”

Addressing his and Kaz’s plans following their exits, Montel revealed: “We’re definitely going to see each other outside of the Villa, I have got plans to go up to Manchester, she’s got plans to come and watch me play football.

“We’re just enjoying it at the moment, not trying to get ahead of ourselves. But we like being around each other, and we do fancy each other!”

FRIEND ZONE

Naseem “Nas” Majeed originally competed in series 6 – and entered the All Stars villa on Day 1.

Upon arrival, the public voted him and Catherine to be coupled up in the initial pairings.

Despite a seemingly budding romance, the pair mutually agreed to remain friends after failing to get sparks flying

Fans soon criticised Nas for “disappearing” from screens – as he stayed out of drama and failed to find a connection.

Taking to X, one wrote: ” “i forgot nas was in the villa and then he says he fancies elma the most that is so random #loveisland”.

Another added: “Is Nas still in Love Island ? #LoveIslandAllStars”

While a third penned: “Nas is just an extra at this point cause what’s he still doing there , he doesn’t want Catherine and no one wants him #LoveIslandAllStars.”

A fourth chimed in: “At least Ron is chatting to the ladies & trying… why is Nas still there & not even approaching anyone.”

Catherine had previously criticised Nas for lack of affection, with Nas claiming he was a “slow burner” when it came to romantic interests.

Speaking after his exit, Nas said: “I have no regrets about being a slow burner – I might even bring out a podcast called ‘Slow
Burner’. I move with intent.

“I don’t tend to fall head over heels from the get-go. I like taking
things slow. Maybe I shot myself in the foot a little bit but that’s how I am as a person. I can leave with my head held high.”

LOVE Island fans are convinced Casey and Gabby had sex in the All Stars Hideaway.

The pair enjoyed a steamy night away from the other Islanders – with some viewers convinced they did the deed.

At the beginning of tonight’s episode, Kaz received a text which read: “Islanders, tonight the Hideaway Retreat is open. Please choose a lucky couple to spend the night together #DND #AloneAtLast”

They collectively decide to pick Gabby and Casey. 

Casey told the boys: “The nerves are kicking in!” while Gabby said she was “so excited”.

Gabby looked stunning in a black lingerie set, which prompted a red-faced Casey to say: “I’m going to pass out.”

They arrived at the Hideaway Retreat to a bottle of bubbles and chocolate covered strawberries.

As they relax in bed Gabby joked to Casey: “I wish you had your speedos on, that’s when you’re at your best self.”

Opening up, Gabby told him: “I didn’t think I’d be in bed with you, even when we first coupled up, I didn’t think it would go like this.

“I just thought you’d be a d*** and you haven’t been, well done you.”

Casey insisted: “I would always be very transparent with my feelings to you and always tell you exactly how I feel.”

Gabby added: “I’m not sure if this is real or not, but I feel like it is now.”

The pair couldn’t keep their hands off each other and enjoyed some

The next day Casey tells Nas and Curtis: “Not to blow my own trumpet but best night of my whole entire Love Island career!“ 

While Gabby told Elma about her “sexy” and “steamy” night with Casey.

She said: “I feel like we’re in a really good place and I really trust him.

“After last night as well, it’s just given me way more confidence in us.

“It was just so sexy and I just want to do it again.”

Fans were convinced the pair may have got up to something under the covers when the lights went out.

One wrote: “Casey and gabby had sex in the Hideway.”

While some fans think Casey is leading Gabby on after he refused to “close things off” with the personal trainer.

A second said: “Gabby says sleeping with him made her trust him more? Oh you poor, silly girl.”

A third commented: “Casey not being closed off even though he’s slept with Gabby,” while this person said: “Sleeping with Casey isn’t something to brag about.”

When I was coming round from the anaesthetic, I had a needle in the back of my hand.

I could see how long it was under my skin.
