Well, respect is earned, honesty is appreciated, trust is gained, and loyalty is returned. You’ve probably seen that line floating around Instagram captions, embroidered on throw pillows, or shared in Pinterest quotes, but rarely has it hit as hard as when Gigi Paris decided to finally speak. Not cryptic tweets. Not a passive-aggressive like or unfollow. But full-throated, bare-boned honesty on a mic.
After two years of silence, Paris sat down with Emma Klipstein on the Too Much podcast and peeled back every shiny layer of her breakup with Glen Powell. She unzipped the past with Glen Powell, unwrapped the drama with Sydney Sweeney, and said out loud what many were whispering behind their screens.
Gigi Paris isn’t holding her tongue

Gigi Paris joined influencer Emma Klipstein on the latest episode of the Too Much podcast, laying bare the heartache, confusion, and betrayal that followed her split from Glen Powell, a breakup that unfolded just as fans began speculating about Powell’s on-screen chemistry with his Anyone But You co-star, Sydney Sweeney.
Paris is talking about how the rumors swirling online about Powell and Sweeney put her in a really tough spot. Even though she doesn’t directly name them, she’s clearly referring to those two and the speculation about whether they were involved romantically while she was still with Powell.
It was just, this is what I have to do for my job. I had two options. I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, ‘Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she okay with this?
In that single moment, Paris made a choice, not between Powell and the public, but between her self-worth and a narrative she refused to be swallowed by.
I just wanted respect, especially if it’s gonna be public. Like, don’t make an a*s out of me. Like, just don’t make a fool out of someone you’ve been with for over three years talking about forever with. Just have some decency, you know? And at the end of the day, it was like, well, work comes first.

The emotional laceration wasn’t from the rumors, but from the silence that followed them.
Where are you when you just need to stand up and say, ‘No, I would never cheat on my girlfriend. I wouldn’t do that.’ That’s all that needed to be said. And that wasn’t said … Never once.
One sentence. That’s all it would’ve taken. But no such line was drawn, and so the rumors snowballed, feeding press cycles and social chatter while she stood alone in the echo chamber of speculation.
It was serving them for their PR. Later on, it turned out that it was all, I don’t know if there was a relationship there or not, but then they came out to say it was all a PR scheme at the expense of our relationship.
What was once a private relationship was quickly turned into public capital, a tale of broken hearts twisted into a movie promo strategy. Whether Powell and Sweeney were truly involved or not was suddenly irrelevant. Her pain had already been sold as part of the show.
Just to sell a movie or not, who knows? And I honestly hoped that they’d end up together, because I was like, at least it would make it worth it for me, you know? I hope they are in love or whatnot.
Gigi chose the second path; she decided to protect her self-respect and not stay silent, even though it broke her emotionally (“I was shattered”).
Gigi Paris on broken trust and setting boundaries

Even now, Gigi Paris remains unsure if she was cheated on. But she doesn’t need the receipts. Emma Klipstein asked if she ever got “clarity of whether or not you were cheated on,” to which Paris responded,
I have heard so many different sides of the story. I have no confirmation of what actually happened. I just know what my standards are. And for me, it just wasn’t okay the way it was handled, period.
Gigi is saying that she’s been exposed to many conflicting versions of what went down, but she doesn’t have any solid proof or clear answers about the truth.
In the time since, Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell have each addressed the rumors nonchalantly. In an interview with Variety, Sweeney dismissed it with a grin:
It’s a rom-com. That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker. They want it. It’s fun to give it to ’em.
Powell echoed a similar tune months later, speaking to Insider:
Well, look, the only reason it made things harder for me to lean into that stuff was that I was going through a very real breakup amidst a promotional tour.

Paris, however, wasn’t waiting around for Hollywood’s take.
Like I said, like, I hope that if they’re meant to be, that they’re meant to be. It’s really none of my business anymore.
Gigi Paris didn’t tell this story to rewrite the past. She told it to reclaim it, unfiltered, unsanitized, and wholly her own. No more rumors. No more silence. Just the raw truth of a woman who chose to walk through fire with her eyes open and came out on the other side not as a victim, but as a witness.
