Andorra 0 England 1: Kane goal sees feeble Three Lions sneak win vs minnows to maintain 100% World Cup qualifying record

ENGLAND laboured their way to a dull – yet important – 1-0 victory over Andorra in World Cup qualification.

Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions were booed off the pitch after their uninspiring and lacklustre first half showing, cranking things up a smidge to earn a win in the second spell.

Tuchel experimented with an unusual starting XI, opting for Jordan Henderson over Declan Rice and playing Curtis Jones as a makeshift inverted full-back.

It’s clear to see that this is a group of England players who are coming off the back of long arduous seasons with their clubs.

The nation’s stars lacked pace and intensity for much of the game, seemingly trying to plod their way through to 90 minutes without an injury so they can head on their holidays worry free.

However, even with so little put in by England’s players, they did manage to find the back of the net and secure their place on top of Group K in the World Cup qualifiers.

Who else but captain Harry Kane to pop up in the six yard box, getting his outstretched boot on the end of a drilled Noni Madueke cross.

Madueke and Kane were two of the standout performers for England, showing far more intent than that of their teammates.

Although, that comes as little surprise when you learn that both still have to return to action with their clubs after the international break to take part in the revamped Club World Cup – meaning they aren’t mentally checked out just yet.

England will consider this job done. It wasn’t pretty, but Tuchel’s men remain unbeaten and they can now shift their focus to Tuesday’s clash with Senegal.
