A-1 Pictures Adapting ‘Solo Leveling’s’ Novel Instead of the Manhwa Is a Jackpot for Cha Hae-In Fans

Although the Solo Leveling anime is rapidly gaining traction in terms of fame and recognition, there is still a huge chunk of the fanbase who are disappointed with it. This is because of the portrayal of their favorite character, Cha Hae-In, the Korean female S-Rank Hunter who is also the love interest of Sung Jinwoo in the series.

Cha Hae-In is an incredibly important character, and she is also quite powerful. However, her portrayal within the manhwa and the anime till now has not been deserving at all. Thus, fans have often demanded for her character to get more roles within the story and prove her presence and her significance as a major Solo Leveling character.

And while it might be impossible to now modify her character portrayal in the Solo Leveling manhwa, the anime still has a chance. This is because the anime is adapting the Solo Leveling story from the original novel series, which was written by Chugong. The novel series has a better portrayal of Cha Hae-In, especially as the love interest of Sung Jinwoo.

The disappointing portrayal of Cha Hae-In and Sung Jinwoo’s relationship in the manhwa

As a character within the story, Cha Hae-In holds a lot of significance. She is the Vice-Guild Master of the Hunters Guild and also the only female S-Rank hunter in Korea. She is quite powerful, and while her presence is mostly hidden behind Sung Jinwoo’s character, she still manages to make a place for herself within the story in one way or another.

Most of it is the result of the romantic relationship that she eventually builds with Sung Jinwoo. Their relationship is one of the most popular aspects of the Solo Leveling franchise, but it is not adequately portrayed within the manhwa, and the anime series has not yet reached the point in the story. This has been a big point of concern for a majority of Solo Leveling fans.

Although there are some scenes that provide a decent portrayal of the development of their relationship, it is still not enough, considering their importance within the story. It is for this reason that fans are worried that the anime would follow in the footsteps of the Solo Leveling manhwa and bring about an unjust treatment of their relationship inside the series.

Solo Leveling anime might do justice to Cha Hae-In and Sung Jinwoo’s relationship

While fans are concerned about the portrayal of Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In’s relationship in the Solo Leveling anime, they do not need to worry about it at all. The reason behind this is that, according to reports, A-1 Pictures is adapting the story of the anime from Chugong’s novel series that also served as a source for the manhwa.

While the manhwa underappreciates Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In’s relationship, the novel series does justice to it by giving it the importance that it deserves.

From focusing on their little moments to the grand gesture of their love, every aspect of the relationship has been explained in detail within the novel series.

Thus, if A-1 Pictures follows the novel series to the core, they might give the same respect to their relationship. Fans will have to wait and see how the relationship of Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In is developed within the Solo Leveling story, which starts majorly after the Jeju Island arc.

Solo Leveling is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
