In the world of WWE, there have been quite a few spectacular entries and exits, but perhaps none as iconic as Randy Orton. Deemed one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time who has the tied-third most world championship reigns in history, he has picked a feud with the entirety of the McMahon family, including Triple H, Stephanie McMahon’s husband.

To say the least, his bad blood almost had him getting fired. But being one of the best bad guys in the WWE Universe and regarded among the greatest heels of all time, Orton not only made sure to keep his position but also proved to Paul Levesque aka the chief content officer of WWE that he may try his best but he still wouldn’t have a better big baddie than him.
Randy Orton really proved to Triple H that he was the best big bad they had

More than a decade and a half ago, Randy Orton picked a fight with the McMahon family as he called Vince McMahon‘s daughter Stephanie McMahon “worthless” and claimed he was worth more than her in early 2009. Back then, Vince demanded he either apologize or be terminated on the spot, but before he could say the words, Orton attacked and punted him in the head.
Following this, he even won the Royal Rumble match, last eliminating Triple H, husband of Stephanie. On the next night of Raw, after being confronted by Stephanie, claimed that he suffered from IED and that he was not responsible for his actions towards Vince as he had lost control due to his disorder. He even claimed that WWE knew of the condition, but did nothing about it.
So when Stephanie McMahon confronted him about it and called him out for having the guts to bring his attorney to the ring to threaten to sue WWE for this very reason after kicking her father on the head, Orton’s sincere response was (via WWE/YouTube):
Actually, Stephanie, it is a threat. I have a legal right to compete at the WrestleMania. I won the Royal Rumble. If you fire me here tonight, I will sue you; and not only will I sue you, I will file an injunction so that this year there will be no WrestleMania. I will shut this company out, I will shut it down. That is not a threat. That, Stephanie McMahon, is a promise. Now, what are you going to do about that?
In fact, that’s not all. Continuing, Orton even threatened to bring down each and every one of the wrestlers signed with WWE if he was fired before proceeding to launch into a fire me! rant at Stephanie, saying:
Fire me. Go ahead, fire me! Fire me, fire me, fire me! I’m begging you to fire me! Let me sue this company for everything that it’s got, cancel WrestleMania, and put these ingrates out of work. Fire me, fire me, I’m begging you, Stephanie McMahon, fire me now! Let me hear the words your father was about to say right before I kicked him in the skull.
These words and the nerve with which he said it was more than enough to prove he was one of the best big bads of WWE. But then Stephanie called her brother Shane McMahon into the ring.
Stephanie McMahon’s calling Shane McMahon didn’t help against Randy Orton either

Responding to Randy Orton’s threats and promises and begging her to fire him so that he could sue WWE, Stephanie McMahon said she had “bigger plans” as firing him would be too easy, leading to Shane returning to Raw and attacking Orton. But even that didn’t stop him, for the No Holds Barred match between them that followed at No Way Out had Orton coming out victorious.
Then the next night on Raw, the pair once again faced each other in an unsanctioned match, though this one ended in a no-contest after Orton punted Shane in the head before proceeding to attack Stephanie with an RKO when she stepped into the ring to tend to her brother. This drew Triple H in as well, who claimed that Orton “crossed the line” when he attacked his wife.
But later, Orton set the record straight by claiming that everything he had done was a part of his plan to get revenge on the chief content officer of WWE after he kicked him out of Evolution years ago, back in 2004. And even after the series of fights that followed, Orton proved to be the top big bad by defeating him for the WWE Championship in a Last Man Standing match after interference from Legacy, so that’s that too.
To say the least, Randy Orton had one of the most solid runs as the heel, making the Legend Killer rank among the greatest heels of all time as one of the most significant character runs in modern wrestling history, especially among the new generation.
