OG Triple H’s Jokes Won’t Even Be Allowed on Netflix in 2025

Paul Levesque, better known as Triple H is a revered figure in the world of professional wrestling, and he’s known for having a sharp wit, with a commanding presence. But what draws the fans to the pro wrestler is his unapologetic demeanor, which was his hallmark in WWE.

His humor often tends to walk the fine line between edgy and inappropriate, and now that WWE is transitioning to a new era with Netflix, such jokes would never make the cut. So let’s dive into the darker side of Triple H’s humor and his contributions that shaped the entertainment side of wrestling.

Triple H’s dark humor pushed boundaries in WWE

Triple H’s humor has always reflected his persona, and there was a time in WWE when shock value was prioritized over everything else. The Attitude Era was a period when players roasted each other, and the interviewers, and cracked hilarious jokes, but the ones by Triple H often pushed the envelope.

The time when he labeled Dwayne Johnson as a “grandmother” for wearing an animal print shirt doesn’t even scratch the surface of how controversial some of Levesque’s gags were. A resurfaced clip features him talking about how he has “two words” for those who want to stop DX.

He leaned into the host’s ear, and whispered something inaudible, followed by an action where he made an inappropriate and suggestive gesture as he said, “You seem a bit confused, maybe a visual aid would help you.” In another footage, he’s conversing with a host and then proceeds to make an inappropriate comment involving cross-dressers.

It’s not a secret that WWE is scripted, the hosts seemed to be in on the joke and simply played along. These moments involving Triple H represent what that era was all about, and it also highlights the fact that his humor was as much about provocation as it was about entertainment.

These jokes garnered many laughs and applause at the time, but they’ve aged poorly and are not acceptable in today’s cultural landscape. Now that WWE has moved to Netflix, there is no way that such content would pass because the streaming giant has more progressive standards. But Triple-H’s contribution to WWE has extended far beyond his problematic humor (via WWE).

The 14-time World Champion has clashed with big names like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Undertaker, and wrestling these all-time greats has only solidified his place in the industry. After retirement, he’s transitioned to leadership positions and has taken on the role of WWE’s Chief Content Officer, so he did play a key part in securing the deal with Netflix.
