CRACKED feet are a common problem, especially at this time of the year.
However, you can get rid of them over night with this simple skincare step.

In her viral TikTok video, dermatologist Lindsey Zubritsky MD (@dermguru) told her 1.6 million followers how to achieve perfectly soft feet.
She demonstrated each of the three steps she swears by for transforming dried heels.
According to the expert, the process will take your feet “from cracked and crispy to smooth as a baby’s bottom”.
For her first step, she showed her audience how to “baste” their feet.
The skincare professional recommended using a glycolic acid for this step.
You can pick up a 100 militlitre bottle of Glycolic Acid from The Ordinary for just £7.70 at Boots.
She added a few drops of the product to a cotton pad and swiped it all over her feet.
Next, she advised her viewers to pick up “a big tube of petroleum jelly”, explaining that “this is the one time where more is better”.
Taking a generous dollop, she applied it all over her foot, paying particular attention to her heels.
Finally, she showed her followers how to cover the products overnight to allow them to soak in.
She recommended putting on a damp sock and layering it with a cotton sock.
According to the pro, the damp sock provides extra hydration.
However, after some people described this as a “sensory nightmare” she explained that it is a skippable step.
“Go to sleep like that and wake up to the softest tootsies,” the expert said.
TikTok users shared their thoughts on the process in the comments section.
Biggest skincare trends for 2025
Face The Future’s Head of Clinic, Kimberley Medd, shared the five skincare trends predicted to take off in 2025.
1. Exosomes
Exosomes are the buzzword for 2025, taking advanced skin regeneration to new heights. These micro-messengers signal skin cells to repair damage, boost collagen, and accelerate recovery, and they’re a gamechanger for targeting ageing.
2. Streamlined Skincare
The age of 12-step routines is fading as consumers shift to more intentional, multi-functional products. Streamlining skincare not only saves time but also reduces the risk of overloading your skin. In 2025, we’ll see a rise in hybrid products that combine active ingredients for simplified, effective results.
3. Vegan Collagen
Plant-based collagen will dominate the skincare world this year, providing a sustainable, ethical alternative to traditional animal-derived collagen. Expect vegan collagen in everything from moisturisers to serums.
4. The Rise Of AI
AI is revolutionising the beauty landscape, making it possible for consumers to get truly personalised skincare solutions. In 2025, we predict a dramatic shift towards AI-powered tools that help people understand their skin on a deeper level.
5. Hair Loss Solutions –
Hair loss is an issue that affects more men than we often realise, and it’s no longer just something we’re talking about behind closed doors. This year, expect to see a continued rise in demand for treatments that not only tackle hair loss but also nurture overall scalp health.
“I put the glycolic acid in a spray bottle. So easy,” shared one follower.
“This really works,” wrote one impressed viewer.
” I do this minus the damp socks and works great!” commented a third person.
“This is brilliant,” said another TikTok user.
“I do this regularly just without the damp sock. It still works,” wrote one viewer.
