WHO ever said being a footie pundit on TV was easy?
Well, Celtic hero Joe Hart found out this weekend that it certainly ISN’T the case.

Hart retired after winning a double with Celtic[/caption]
Hart, 37, retired from football at the end of last season after a glittering three-year spell at Celtic.
Signed by Ange Postecoglou in the summer of 2021, the former England No1 proved an inspiring signing at Parkhead.
Hart won the Scottish Premiership title in all three of his seasons with the Celts and was part of the treble-winning side of 2023.
He also, of course, won a couple of Premier League titles with Manchester City.
Hart quickly moved into a brand new role after calling it quits.
He headed into the world of TV, taking up a regular punditry role with the BBC.
After impressing viewers at the World Cup, Hart was revealed as a new regular pundit for Match of the Day this season.
He’s continued to earn plaudits for his analysis but this Saturday just gone saw him attract the attention for a very different reason.
And presenter Gary Lineker was not in the mood to let him away with it!
Hart was analysing the highlights of Brighton’s 2-1 win over Fulham on Saturday night’s edition of MOTD.
As the pictures showed Jan Paul van Hecke heading the Seagulls into the lead, Hart said: “What a great header that is. He’s got a clean run…. yeah, you’re right. It’s a heck of a header that….”
As Hart continues his analysis, seemingly blissfully unaware, Lineker and fellow pundit Micah Richards burst into laughter – but why?
Now, newly released footage from the BBC shows the hilarious moment in all its glory – and shows EXACTLY what happened.
After Hart finished his comments, Lineker said: “I love, Joe, how you just agreed with the director in your ear.”
Finally realising what went on and why his co-hosts were struggling to keep their composure, smiling Hart replied: “I’m having conversations in my head!”
Lineker added: “You just answered him.”
The episode was an amusing insight into how live TV can actually work!
All three men had earpieces in, whereby producers and directors can speak to them while the programme is ongoing – to make sure any important information, or in this case a funny pun, makes it in.
It is, of course, part of the job for presenters and pundits to try and not to make it obvious there’s someone in their ear while on air.
The incident came up on The Rest is Football podcast too, where Lineker and Richards filled-in fellow MOTD pundit Alan Shearer on what had gone down.
Lineker explained: “Jamie was editing last night and Joe was going through his little bits and then Jamie was like ‘oh, that was a heck of a header’ and Joe answered him.
“All he’s hearing in his ear and he went ‘yes, it was.’
“Micah and myself, because we hear the same feed in our ears, the gallery talking, it was so funny. It’s hilarious.”
“He is doing really well and I tell you what, he works hard at it as well.
“It’s quite easy to come in and think this is easy, this analysis, just talking about football but he works really hard.
“He’s going to be very good, he already is.”
