Of course, none of this is confirmed, but whispers of behind-the-scenes tension have been around for years. Some claim the two merely played nice for press, with Kendrick allegedly being ultra-competitive, even pushing for tweaks to the movie poster to, well, even things out (aka the cleavage drama).
For people who did not understand the reference, she supposedly asked the design team to enhance her cleavage on the movie poster to be as prominent as Lively. And if old interview clips are to be believed, the vibe between them wasn’t exactly cool. Her demeanor on the SXSW red carpet also seemed tense and uncomfortable to many on the internet, with some believing she was trying to avoid Blake Lively. But again, all of this remains just that, rumors.
Naturally, this made many headlines claiming Anna Kendrick wants nothing to do with Blake Lively. According to a source who spilled to The Daily Mail, Kendrick is willing to walk the red carpet, smile for the cameras, and talk about Another Simple Favor, but that’s where she draws the line. Anything involving the drama is off-limits. And as for teaming up with Lively again in the future, “She does not want to do another film with Blake.”, is what the source said. Rumors of bad blood between Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively have been flying for some time now, fueled by claims from influencer Melanie King, on X.com. But director Paul Feig isn’t having it.
When King alleged that Kendrick was “pissed ” and wanted nothing to do with Lively, Feig shut it down with a blunt three-word response. “Um… you’re wrong“
Funny enough, he pulled the same move back in January, shutting down speculation that Another Simple Favor might get shelved due to all the drama.
With whispers that the cast and director were stressed about navigating the film’s marketing while the It Ends With Us controversy brewed, Feig called it “total BS” on X.com, and reminded people not to believe everything floating around on social media.
Meanwhile, a source told E! News that the co-stars are far from enemies, insisting, “They are not enemies. They are coworkers; friends, and get along well.“
They also reported Kendrick and Lively were reportedly looking forward to promoting the film alongside the rest of the cast, especially in the SWSW, regardless of what the internet wants to believe.
