Dublin weather: ‘Noticeably colder’ as temperatures fall to -2C in Met Eireann cold snap & frost forecast warning

THE coming days in Dublin are looking to be “noticeably colder” as frost and mist hit the capital.

Following summer-like conditions and 16C temperatures yesterday, Dublin will see a sharp drop in temperatures over the week.

There will also be the return of some wetter and mistier weather on the way.

While today is to start out mostly dry, fog and mist will take a hold for part of the morning.

This will slowly clear to allow for sunny spells to develop, with a few patches of drizzle possible.

Temperatures today will begin to see a decline as they fail to reach above 11C.

Overnight, it will be cold and dry as a mix of cloud and clear spells bring along some mist patches.

It will be a lot colder than past nights with temperatures reaching lows of 2C to 4C.

TOMORROW’S OUTLOOK

As for tomorrow, Met Eireann said: “On Tuesday morning, any frost and mist or fog patches will clear to give a dry day with sunny spells.

“It will be noticeably colder with highest temperatures of 6C to 8C with light to moderate north to northeast breezes.”

Tuesday night will remain colder as scattered showers move southwards, bringing wintry conditions.

Temperatures will see a further plunge, reaching lows of 0C to 4C.

REST OF THE WEEK

When it comes to Wednesday, forecasters said: “Wednesday will be a cold, breezy day with sunny spells and some scattered showers, a few possibly wintry on some hills in the east and north.

“Highest temperatures of 5C to 8C with moderate to fresh northeast winds.

“Wednesday night will be cold with clear spells and a few wintry showers. Lowest temperatures -1C to 4C with some frost.”

Thursday and Friday will both also remain cold but mostly dry, with only a few showers developing.

However, any rain making an appearance will be wintry with temperatures dropping between 6C and 9C.

The nights will be particularly cold with frost developing and temperatures falling between -2C and 0C.

It’s looking up for the weekend with mainly dry and sunny spells emerging, with temperatures boosting to 7C to 10C.

However, this is expected to take a sharp decline at night as frost will return.
