The Age of Adaline star Blake Lively starred as Lily Bloom opposite Justin Baldoni’s Ryle Kincaid in 2024’s It Ends With Us. The movie is based on Colleen Hoover’s novel of the same name, which was published in 2016. However, the movie’s success and popularity have been tainted by the scandal-turned-legal battle between the leading actors. Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni and his production company in December 2024.
Baldoni stepped up to defend his honor, and not only did he launch a website with all the evidence shared for the public to see, but he also filed a lawsuit against the actress and her husband. There has been information shared every single day with Team Baldoni weighing higher than Team Lively. Fans have now dug up some footage from the press tour, which goes on to prove that Lively probably lied about the author.

Justin Baldoni, in his defense, not only countersued her but also her husband, Ryan Reynolds. With the number of comments and backlash the actress has received since she started the press tour of the movie last year, fans have wondered about the smear campaign, which she alleges in her lawsuit.
However, recently, fans have pointed out (via @ThePerezHilton) that there is a high probability that Blake Lively lied about knowing Colleen Hoover. In one of an interview with FilMonger Extras, Lively is heard saying,
I lived under a rock because I hadn’t heard of Colleen Hoover before they came to me with this movie.
The actress further said that the person at the time she was with had heard about the book and was ‘shrieked’ when it was told that the studios were interested in Lively to play Lily Bloom. The actress later read the script and noted that she fell in love with the character and wanted to share her story with the world.
But in another interview, which also featured Colleen Hoover, Lively shares with the author that the reason she was excited to do the movie is that she saw the mention of her name. She added that she felt that Hoover’s voice resonated with people in a way that how she tells stories and what she’s telling reaches out. She, however, admits that she fell in love with the character as well.
And now fans are simply confused about why Lively had to lie to Colleen Hoover about knowing her when, weeks before, she openly admitted on camera that she had not read any of her books. These interviews may or may not hold significance in their legal battle, but they surely do make the fans wonder about Lively’s honesty about what she is claiming at this moment.
Colleen Hoover returns to social media and cleans up
Never in her career would author Colleen Hoover have thought that her 2016 best-selling novel It Ends With Us was going to end up in such a mess as the one it is in right now.
After Lively sued the actor-director Baldoni for s**ual harassment at the workplace, Hoover voiced out her support in favor of Lively, but later, as the legal battle started to heat up, she decided to deactivate her account.
Hoover returned a couple of days later, but fans noticed her social media did not feature any pictures of the stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. She also wiped off the promotional tour that was up on her account. At the time, she had shared a message of support for Lively in which she wrote (via NY Post),
Blake Lively, you have been nothing but honest, kind, supportive, and patient since the day we met. Thank you for being exactly the human that you are. Never change. Never wilt.
It was noted that Hoover, beyond the legal battle, had supported the actress. For example, when she received backlash because of the clothes Lily Bloom wore, Hoover said that she didn’t take those comments seriously because she knew that the viewers didn’t know the context of the pictures. The author added at the time that the viewers weren’t on set and witnessed the movie come to life.
Hoover was excited to see everyone on set, excited and passionate about the movie. The success seems to have been tainted for now as the actors prepare to go on trial in May 2026.
