Rangers ultras announce their plans to back Gers ahead of Fenerbahce clash with fans urged to meet HOURS before kick-off

RANGERS were given a rare weekend off after missing out on a Scottish Cup quarter-final spot.

But this coming week the Ibrox club will be hoping to make up for that shocker against Queen‘s Park by booking their place in the final eight of another competition – the Europa League.

Rangers will be the only Scottish Premiership side in action midweek as they’re now Scotland‘s sole representatives in Europe.

And many expect them to continue competing in the tournament until next month at the very least.

That’s because Rangers are in the driving seat to reach the next stage of the Europa League after stunning Fenerbahce in Turkey last week.

Thousands of Gers fans travelled over to Istanbul to back the team ahead of the big showdown against Jose Mourinho‘s side.

It’s fair to say most – if not all – punters were surprised to see the score-line at full-time as Rangers ran out 3-1 winners.

Now fans are preparing to show their support for the second leg at Ibrox on Thursday.

Rangers ultras the Union Bears have announced they will be leading a march to the stadium in Govan and have asked fellow fans to join them.

The fans’ group posted a short statement on social media confirming their plans.

Supporters have been asked to congregate at Cessnock subway station at 6.30pm – 90 minutes before kick-off.

The many fans will then begin their march towards the stadium which is just over half a mile away from the station.

The march will start on Paisley Road West and they will then head onto Edmiston Drive which will take them right outside Ibrox.

They will no doubt get some amount of backing from fellow fans after last week’s result gave everyone belief they will reach the last eight.

Aside from the march, the Union Bears have also announced plans for earlier in the day for those who are available.

Fans who are free earlier in the day have been invited to join them at Three Cheers bar – a Rangers supporters pub in Kinning Park.

Members of the fans’ group will be at the bar from 3pm onwards and are keen for more supporters to join them.
