While Sarah Hyland might be currently happily married to Wells Adams, she once dated actor Matthew Prokop. He was on the rise with roles in projects such as High School Musical 3, Geek Charming, and even appeared in a guest role in Modern Family. While this was good for his trajectory, everything came to an abrupt halt when his relationship with Hyland ended in 2014.
This was due to the fact that the actress accused him of physical and verbal abuse. For context: The duo had started dating in 2011 when both of them met on the sets of Geek Charming. Their young love seemed picture-perfect on the outside, but the reality was far darker on the inside.
She filed a restraining order against him and detailed in court documents that he had been emotionally and physically abusive towards her. Things became so severe that she had to take support from her Modern Family on-screen mother, Julie Bowen, to be present during the breakup. He reportedly took things violently and started making threats against her.
Following their split, the actress was granted a three-year restraining order against him via Life & Style Magazine. After this, he remained largely outside the public eye, with his acting career seemingly ending.
Co-star accuses Sarah Hyland of rude behavior on set
Sarah Hyland has been in the industry for several years now, with several projects to her name, the most notable being her Haley Dunphy role in Modern Family. While she still shares a great bond with them, her The Wedding Year co-star has made some serious accusations against her via The George Janko Show.
Comedian and actor Jeff Dye called the actress “rude” and said that she created a tense work environment. He said all of this when he appeared on The George Janko Show and alleged that Hyland often mistreated extras and crew members. She also had issues with background actors helping themselves to food at the craft services table and even reported this to the film’s director, Robert Luketic.
He also described her as a “pretty woman who chain-smokes and is terrible.” Dye also added that his role just lasted 30 seconds in the movie and that Hyland “hated” him and dismissed him outright. The actress is yet to comment on this.
