The 43-year-old suddenly moved his head before attempting to bat it away.

It sparked some confusion from the commentator, who said: “What’s happened there?

“A wasp? Something’s attacked him there!”

Gilbert went on to lose 4-1 to Robertson in Hong Kong on Thursday morning.

The World Snooker Tour was forced to issue an apology on Tuesday evening after spectators were kicked out of Kai Tak Arena before the end of the final session.

Kyren Wilson was in action against Matthew Selt, while Wu Yize and Pang Junxu faced off on the other table.

However, fans were unable to watch the conclusion of each match due to a midnight curfew.

Wilson and Wu went on to win their respective games.

A statement from the WST later read: “Some fans were unable to watch the conclusion of the final match on Table One.

“The Tournament Organising Committee has since communicated with Kai Tak Sports Park and the relevant departments.

“We are pleased to confirm that spectators will be permitted to remain in the venue for the conclusion of all evening sessions for the rest of the tournament.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

“Spectators who had tickets for this game will be able to exchange these for seats of the same value on Wednesday March 5 or Thursday March 6.”
