Meanwhile the Sandyford venue on Helmsley Road will remain open until March 15.

Chef and owner Josh Roberts announced the closure “with a heavy heart” via Instagram over the weekend.

He cited rising energy costs and VAT as reasons for the hugely popular and highly rated restaurant ending.

The post read: “After 7 amazing years, we are sadly joining the ranks of independent businesses that are closing their doors.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the immediate closure of Thali Tray @ Bealim House.

“Sandyford will remain open for four weeks (final service Sat 15th March) giving our customers a chance to enjoy one last Thali Tray.

“We would hugely appreciate your support during this time.

“Unfortunately, rising costs of energy, VAT, and other factors have made it impossible for us to continue in our current form.

“It would have required us to raise prices significantly to stay afloat, which is something we were not comfortable with.

“It has been quite the journey, starting from a gazebo at Rock Cricket Club, then moving to Ouseburn, Bealim House, and finally Sandyford.

“We want to express our gratitude to our incredible staff over the years who made all of this possible, our suppliers for their unwavering support, and of course, our loyal customers.

“We estimate that we sold our 100,000th Thali late last year, and each one was a pleasure to serve.

“Please be sure to use any gift cards before the end of the month.
Thank you for all the memories and support over the years.

“Its been To-Thali great guys! All the best, Josh.”

Thali Tray’s owners have been blown away by the support after the announcement.

They wrote on Facebook: “We just want to say a huge thank you for all the support you’ve shown us.

“We have been blown away by the comments, messages, and reservations that came flooding in.”
