The British and Aussie couple were defeated by American duo Emma Navarro and Ben Shelton on Wednesday.
They were playing in the Eisenhower Cup at Indian Wells, a precursor exhibition event to this week’s BNP Paribas Open.
Matches played in the tournament take a streamlined format and are very fast-paced, with both teams playing out a ten-point tie-break.
Boulter and De Minaur were tied at six points apiece at one stage during the match, before Shelton and Navarro capitalised on a mis-hit from the Aussie star, to go three points clear.
They finally clinched the match following an exciting rally that saw De Minaur just miss out on clipping a fast backhand from Shelton over the net.
Following the match, Boulter was quizzed on whether this was the first time the pair had played doubles together.
The British No.1 joked: “Second… and last time.”
She was then asked if De Minaur stepped up to the plate during the match.

But Boulter defended her beau: “No he did! He was great!”
She then added: “I thought he was going to run for some of the shots but he left them to me. So that was awesome.”
De Minaur joked back: “To be honest, every ball I got a racket on I missed so I thought it would be better off if she hit every ball.”
De Minaur has previously hinted during a press conference at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Chamionships that he and Boulter could play more together over the coming year.
Both Boulter and De Minaur have received byes for the first round of the men’s and women’s singles.
The tennis power couple have been dating since 2020 and announced their engagement at the end of 2024.
