Attack on Titan concluded in 2023 with the anime’s spectacular ending, but we are still getting new announcements and projects one after the other. It’s bizarre how we don’t have a confirmed live-action project yet. Although, fans seem fully prepared as they come up with their own predictions for the potential live-action.

The characters are a huge reason behind the massive popularity of the anime-manga series. This makes the casting a crucial matter that could break or make the live-action film. Fans have found the perfect actor from Hollywood to play Eren Yeager. Here’s who it is.
The perfect Eren for an Attack on Titan live-action
Throughout Attack on Titan, Eren has many life-altering experiences. From having his childhood constrained within walls to having the power to change the world, he goes from a kid with barely any agency to one with limitless powers. At the beginning, he’s a typical shonen character with a huge goal. He’s impulsive, loud, and always a step away from death.
Near the end, he evolves into a mastermind who starts strategizing and manipulating people. This duality can be tricky to play, at least convincingly so. Playing a loud and impulsive kid, as well as a calmer version of him capable of wreaking havoc, sounds quite challenging. A fan has compiled a list of characters on Reddit who would be perfect to play the central cast of Attack on Titan.

All the listed actors bear striking resemblance to the characters, but one comment pointed out how Eren and Paul Atreides, played by Timothee Chalamet are too similar.

Eren had a similar character arc as Paul Atreides from Dune. However, Paul was much calmer throughout. Eren had a more impulsive approach towards everything that happened around him. However, there’s no doubt that Chalamet is a great actor ,and he would be able to add his own flair to Eren’s character.

Similarly, the other actors that fans thought of are Chris Evans as Erwin, Ed Oxenbould as Armin, Maria Zhang as Mikasa, Dan Dehann as Levi Ackerman, Milly Alcock as Historia, and Asher Angel as Connie. Out of all these characters, Mikasa and Levi would be the trickiest to play in the live-action adaptation due to their fighting styles. Although, it can be said that a live-action Attack on Titan in itself is a tricky affair.
Here is the one thing that could make or break the live-action Attack on Titan
Besides the acting, the length of the film could also prove to be an issue, as the narrative of the anime and the manga is extremely layered. There are many twists and turns that won’t be as impactful without the right build-up. If we look back at the live-action films of 2015, they were a mix of both good and bad elements.

Live-action films have a bad reputation in fandom due to the changes in the storyline. The movies were visually not bad, and only if the acting had been better, the overall experience would have had a more positive reception. So, it’s safe to assume that a great cast of actors could make the live-action a great addition to the franchise.
Attack on Titan is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
