Met Eireann forecast ‘sunny spells’ and ‘largely dry’ weather as evenings to get brighter and temperatures to hit 10C

MET Eireann has confirmed “sunny spells” in the new forecast over the coming days as the evenings get brighter going into the spring.

Irish temperatures are expected to reach up to 10C in some parts from tomorrow before falling to -2C overnight.

Ireland has also seen more daylight since the winter solstice last December, an average of two minutes and seven seconds every day.

Met Eireann confirmed that better weather will soon arrive on Irish shores from tomorrow.

The rest of the week will then see high pressure dominating, bringing dry, clear conditions, but that drop in overnight temperatures will remain persistent.

Wednesday will be mainly dry, with only a few light showers hitting the west and northwest, mainly impacting coastal areas.

Highs of 6C to 10C in light to moderate southwesterly winds are also expected.

Met Eireann said: “For tomorrow Wednesday itself it will be a mainly dry day with good spells of sunshine and just a few light showers near west and north west coasts. Highest temperatures of 7C to 10C.

“Tomorrow night is going to be dry with clear spells but temperatures will fall to between -2C and 2C with frost and icy patches.”

Thursday will see another similar day, with higher daytime temperatures before ice and frost return with colder conditions overnight.

They said: “Thursday will be largely dry with sunny spells though it may be a bit cloudier in the south west for a time.

“Highest temperatures of 7C to 10C and then at night cold with frost developing as temperatures fall to between -2C and 2C.”

Friday will be dry, with sunny spells and some cloudier periods.

Highest temperatures of 6C to 8C with light to moderate southeasterly breezes.

Friday night will be cold, with frost and some icy patches, and lows of -3C to +1C.

Next weekend will again see mostly dry weather, this time with some more cloud and a further drop in overnight temperatures.

Met Eireann added: “Saturday and Sunday will both be largely dry with a fair amount of cloud and some sunny spells.

“A little mist or drizzle may develop in places. Both days will be cold, with the highest temperatures of 4C to 8C.

“The nights will be cold also with lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees and with frost developing.

“Early next week will continue cold and mainly dry with light winds and day time temperatures of 4C to 7C. The nights will be cold with frost and perhaps some mist or fog.”
