VIRGIN Media star Katja Mia has admitted that she “bit off more than she could chew” last year after competing on Dancing With The Stars.
The Six O’Clock Show host made it to the quarter final on series seven of the hit RTE Show but was voted off by judges after facing the dreaded dance battle.
Katja quickly became a fan favourite on the dance competition and viewers were devastated she didn’t make it all the way to raise the coveted glitterball trophy.
However, a year on, the 28-year-old has now reveaeled that the gruelling TV schedule ended up taking a toll her.
The Irish host had just landed the biggest gig of her career on The Six O’Clock Show and was still co-hosting Ireland AM.
The Dublin native told RTE Guide: “I did enjoy doing it but looking back now it was mentally tough.
“I had just started Six and when the conversation came up initially about DWTS I was still on Weekend AM, so I thought, ‘Oh that’s fine I’ll have loads of time’.
“I wanted to be present for both gigs so in hindsight, I had probably bitten off more than I could chew.”
The young star confessed that juggling all her commitments at the time was “definitely one of the toughest challenges” she had ever taken on I’ve ever taken on.
She added: “It really made me respect the dancers and everyone working on the show behind the scenes.”
And Katja told how she found it hard to look back on her performances every week on the show.
The popular presenter said: “I’m only watching back the videos of my dancing now – I couldn’t watch them back for a year. Now, I feel really proud of what I achieved but in the moment all you can do is criticise and think what you could have done better.
“The hardest part of everything is being perceived in a certain way and I get quite self-conscious being on screen and how I look.”
And it was certainly a year to remember for Katja after her long-term love Daragh Curran popped the question during a romantic summer holiday in Italy.
The happy couple celebrated seven years together back in September.
The host took to Instagram to share the exciting proposal news with her fans.
Katja and Daragh posed smiling from ear-to-ear for some selfies after he popped the question.

The presenter looked happier than ever as she showed off her stunning ring.
The pair are currently enjoying a holiday in Italy together and Katja also posted some fabulous snaps from their trip.
The TV star captioned her post: “August dump… but make it different. ARGHhh! #augustdump #engagement #fiancé.”
Friends and fans all flocked to the comment section to congratulate the pair.

Katja’s Six O’Clock Show co-host Brian Dowling gushed: “YES YES YES!!! This is EVERYTHING that [ring] is EVERYWHERE. There is a wedding that needs planning. I’m so so happy for you darling.”
