James Gunn, Are You Watching This? DC Just Gave Aquaman a Forbidden ‘Avatar’ Power That the DCU Cannot Ignore

If you’ve ever argued with your friends about who the most underrated superhero is, chances are, you’ve had to defend Aquaman at some point. You know the drill, someone rolls their eyes and mutters, “Oh, the guy who talks to fish?”

Meanwhile, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman hog the spotlight like they’re the only ones doing any real work in the Justice League. But things are changing, and oh boy, is Aquaman about to make everyone regret their seafood-based slander.

Imagine you’re in the middle of a superhero showdown, fists flying, explosions everywhere, and suddenly, someone starts bending the blood inside their enemy’s body. Well, hold onto your tridents, folks, because that’s exactly what’s happening. Aquaman just unlocked a new power, and it’s the kind of game-changing ability that makes you wonder why he hasn’t been leading the Justice League all along.

Aquaman’s new power, blood bending

So, how did our beloved King of Atlantis go from talking to tuna to making villains wish they drank less water? It all started when the DC Universe decided to throw a massive wrench into the superhero power dynamics.

Thanks to Amanda Waller’s latest brilliant plan, the metahumans of DC found their powers shuffled around like an out-of-control game of Uno. And in the great cosmic mix-up, Aquaman ended up with his wife Mera’s hydrokinetic abilities.

Now, if you’re thinking, “Oh cool, so he can splash people aggressively?” Think bigger. Much bigger. Not only can he control water, but he can manipulate moisture, which means if there’s even a hint of water around, he can use it as a weapon. Enter the most unexpected but undeniably awesome application of this power, blood bending.

Yes, you read that right. Aquaman, the dude people love to roast for needing to be near an ocean, now has a power that works anywhere living beings exist. Why? Because as long as there’s blood in someone’s body, Aquaman has an instant tactical advantage.

Nah, who taught Aquaman bloodbending? 💀

When he’s captured by a group of underwater creatures called the Grindylow, they make the unfortunate mistake of underestimating his new abilities. Stuck in a dire situation with a pool of his own blood beneath him, Aquaman bends that blood like he’s starring in the most hardcore episode of Avatar ever, overpowers his captors, and breaks free. The fish whisperer no more, folks. This man is officially terrifying.

Why James Gunn need to add this forbidden ability from Avatar to the DCU

Now, let’s talk about the elephant in the room, this power is straight out of Avatar: The Last Airbender. If you’re familiar with the legendary Nickelodeon series, you know that waterbenders who tap into their darkest potential can control the blood inside a living body, essentially turning their enemies into unwilling puppets. It was one of the most unsettling and overpowered abilities in the Avatar universe, and now Aquaman has something eerily similar.

And this is where James Gunn comes in. Look, we know he’s shaking things up with his new DCU, and we fully support his weird, wonderful, and sometimes chaotic vision. But if he really wants to get people excited about Aquaman, he needs to bring this power to the big screen.

Aquaman’s new power turns him into something truly formidable, a warrior whose abilities extend far beyond the ocean. So, James Gunn, if you’re reading this, do the right thing. Give Aquaman the blood-bending moment he deserves. The DCU will never be the same.
