The Golden State Warriors entered their Tuesday night contest against the Milwaukee Bucks raring to redeem themselves after a tough loss to swallow on Monday night against a Denver Nuggets side that was without Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. But the difficulty of their task was amplified by the absence of Stephen Curry, who was given a rest day by the Warriors after head coach Steve Kerr, among others, believed that he had been feeling fatigued as of late.
But the Warriors got back on track, taking a 104-93 win over the Bucks thanks in large part to Jimmy Butler’s contributions. Butler stuffed the stat sheet, as he always seems to do whenever he comes up against Milwaukee, putting up 24 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists, doing most of his damage from the free-throw line (11-11 from the charity stripe).
And in filling up the box score, Butler became the fastest player in Warriors history to record at least 100 assists and 100 rebounds, needing only 17 games to do so, as pointed out by the StatMamba account on X (formerly Twitter).
Butler has always been the kind of player who prides himself on doing it all, and now that he’s feeling the appreciation from the Warriors brass, he in turn, has been giving it his all. The 35-year-old is more than content to let Curry and company do their thing, only stepping into the spotlight when necessary — which it was on Tuesday.
After their loss to the Nuggets last night, Butler declared that it was on him (and the rest of the team) to give Curry the support he needs and to prevent him from overworking himself. And Butler is a man of his word, as he wasted no time showing that he is capable of stepping into first-option duties on any given night.
Jimmy Butler is the star the Warriors needed

It was evident that the Warriors were missing one crucial piece to make the roster that they had work. The Dubs did not have any other player who can consistently generate offense and help the team with the little things on the hardwood, which only made the burden that Stephen Curry handled on a nightly basis that much heavier.
Jimmy Butler, since coming in, has done nothing but lighten the burden on Curry’s shoulders. Butler, in a Warriors uniform, is averaging 17.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists while being his excellent self on the defensive end.
