It’s a known fact that Xbox has been on a hot streak in 2025. Although things kicked off a bit slow with Citizen Sleeper 2 and Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, the momentum picked up right after the release, such as Balatro and Avowed. In March, we received 33 Immortals and Atomfall. However, the turning point was April, bringing us smash-hits such as Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur Expedition 33.
After all these releases, PlayStation fans hoped that June’s State of Play would finally bring some worthwhile additions to the platform, which would help it claim its throne again. Unfortunately, that didn’t end up happening. It was nothing but 40 minutes of disappointment, with no exciting games.
However, Xbox isn’t planning to slow down. At the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, the brand doubled down on its Game Pass, handheld, and AAA games, leaving PlayStation in the dust. Let’s take a look at all the major reveals from the latest showcase and rank them from the worst to the showstoppers.
8. High on Life 2

Squanch Games gave us the first official trailer for High on Life 2 at the showcase. The first entry was a first-person shooter that debuted all the way back in 2022 and has been enjoyed by 20 million people to date. Now, the developer wants to jump into the console market with the sequel.
High on Life 2 will challenge players to complete a cosmic quest and unravel an intergalactic conspiracy that could end humanity. The game is all set to arrive on Xbox Series S/X, PS5, and PC this winter. Will the game match the success of the first entry? Only time will tell us.
7. Aphelion
One of the biggest surprises of the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 was Aphelion. It’s developed by the minds who gave us the iconic Life of Strange series, Don’t Nod. Gamers will be tasked to take on the role of Ariane as they adventure through the harsh landscape of a planet.
The reason why Aphelion ranks so low in our list is that the trailer doesn’t give us much about the gameplay. However, as we get close to its 2026 release, we’re likely to receive more in-depth footage of its gameplay and mechanics.
6. Gears of War: Reloaded

Remakes have proven to be a hot trend in the gaming industry, and Xbox is continuing that momentum with Gears of War: Reloaded. It’s a remaster of the iconic Gears of War, which is all set to release on August 26th, 2025. The gameplay does look solid and true to the original experience.
However, what’s really special about the Gears of War: Reloaded will also be released on PlayStation 5. Not only that, at the showcase, it was revealed that the open beta for the remake will be coming to all platforms, including PlayStation.
5. Persona 4 Revival
In the last couple of months, we’ve been hearing rumors left and right suggesting that a Persona 4 remake was in the works. These have proven to be true, as, during the Xbox Games Showcase, Persona 4 Revival was finally announced.
It seems like Persona 4 Revival will stand as a remake of the version Persona 4 Golden. As you’d expect from a remake, there will be new visuals and quality-of-life improvements. However, there’s no release date for this game.
4. Final Fantasy 7 Remake

If there’s one PlayStation exclusive that players wish to see on Xbox consoles, it’s Final Fantasy. Luckily, their prayers have been answered as it’s been revealed at Xbox Games Showcase that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is releasing on Xbox consoles after five years of PlayStation exclusivity.
That’s not all, though; it’s been confirmed that Final Fantasy 16 will also make a jump to Xbox. You can download the game right now on the Microsoft platform. Seriously, did Square Enix learn from Todd Howard and the success of the Oblivion Remastered shadowdrop?
3. Invincible VS
We’ve seen gamers demanding plenty of TV shows and comics to be adapted as video games, particularly Invincible. Ever since the debut of the Amazon TV show, fans of the series have been begging to see the bloody battles brought to a game. Luckily, Invincible’s first console game is coming soon.
At the Xbox Games Showcase, we got the announcement for a 3v3 tag fighter game dubbed Invincible Vs. It’s planning to bring tournament-quality fights, allowing players to set up their own three-man squad and fight it out against the show’s icons. The game is going to launch in 2026, and players have vowed to be there from day one.
2. The Outer Worlds 2

The Xbox Games Showcase kicked off with the brand-new trailer for The Outer Worlds 2. This was quite shocking, considering the fact that the game was supposed to get its own showcase right after the Xbox one. However, we can’t complain as the trailer gave fresh looks to the title, and the “power of capitalism” reminds us of the post-apocalyptic franchise.
It’s also been confirmed that The Outer Worlds 2 is all set to be released on October 29th, 2025, for Xbox Series S/X, PS5, and PC. Developer Obsidian Entertainment also has plans to bring two separate DLCs for the game.
1. Call of Duty 7
The final reveal of Xbox Games Showcase 2025 was Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and absolutely no one saw this coming. For the first time in the history of the franchise, we’re getting back-to-back Black Ops games. We didn’t get a proper trailer, but a cinematic that looks to be setting up the game.
Currently, Black Ops 7 doesn’t have a release date, but it will debut on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation. Could we see a release of Nintendo Switch 2? Well, there’s no word on this yet, but considering the power of the handheld, Black Ops 7 might arrive on it at some point.
