Assassin’s Creed Shadows Release Date, Cast and Collector’s Edition: What is Ubisoft’s Latest Game About?

After a long production period followed by a series of last-minute delays, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is finally hitting the market on March 20th. This game could potentially turn the tides around for Ubisoft after a series of failures that the studio has experienced in the recent past.

This will be the first addition to the Assassin’s Creed franchise to be set in feudal Japan, a place Ubisoft has long been wanting to explore. Various editions of the game are currently available for pre-order across platforms.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is all about taking it to the next level

Assassin’s Creed Shadows follows the story of two protagonists, Fujibayashi Naoe, a female shinobi, and Yasuke, a black samurai. The game was earlier bashed for being forcibly woke and historically inaccurate, but Ubisoft cleared the air by shedding light on the rich history of feudal Japan, which consisted of female shinobis and black samurai.

Tongai Chirisa plays the black samurai Yasuke in the game and Masumi plays the role of Naoe. This game will explore two different play styles through the two protagonists. Players will be able to switch between them. Naoe is a shadow artist, whereas Yasuke is a bull in a china shop.

There are currently three additions to the game available for players. The Standard Edition will grant you access to the “Thrown to the Dogs” bonus quest at launch and the “Claws of the Awaji” expansion, which is scheduled for a later release this year. The standard edition is available for $69.99.

Then there is the Digital Deluxe Edition, which comes with all the benefits of the Standard Edition along with some additional in-game items. It comes with a Sekiryu Dual Pack, which will have additional cosmetic items for both the protagonist and other materials to decorate your hideout in the game. It will also bless you with five extra mastery points in the beginning. This is available for $89.99.

Now, for all the collectors out there, the Collectors Edition is offering a lot of things, including a steel bookcase, a 76-page concept art booklet, a life-size replica of the hilt of Yasuke’s katana, a fold-out world map, a 15.7-inch statue of Naoe and Yasuke, a wall scroll, and two lithographs. This is available for $229.99.

After a series of failures in the recent past, Ubisoft seems to have put all its eggs in one basket and is currently relying on how well the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows performs in the market.

Some of the previous games, including Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and XDefiant, bombed in the market and were quite an expensive loss. Shadows does show promise, but it is still a nervous period for Ubisoft. The game will also be available on Steamdeck.

This is the first game from the franchise to be set in Japan, although the developers had been wanting to do so for a very long time, but the time did not feel right. The team at Ubisoft went through great labor to create an authentic world, hoping players would have a nice time playing. Are you excited about Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ release?
