From epic blindsides and backstabbing alliances to unforgettable Tribal Councils, Jeff Probst has seen it all. But even after hosting Survivor for more than two decades, the milestone Season 50 has left him speechless. In a recent interview, he added that it’s hard to get him more excited than he already is, but this milestone season pulled it off.

Now, that’s a big statement coming from someone who’s been the face of the franchise since day one. And as we’re inching closer to Season 50, Probst’s energy proves that fans are in for something truly special.

Survivor 50 has officially kicked off, and just like everyone else, even Jeff Probst can’t hide his excitement. In Season 50, we’ll see 24 returning players, making it the biggest group in Survivor history. From Jenna Lewis-Dougherty to Kyle Fraser, several notable names will make the upcoming milestone season even more amazing.

He shared that the cast kicked things off with a dramatic and competitive marooning challenge, and all the players went all in from the very beginning. Every single one of them brought pure energy. He added via Gold Derby:

We have players going back 25 years, and we have players who just played, and it’s everything in between, and it was very exciting. It’s hard to get me more excited than I already am about Survivor, but this morning did it. I’m looking forward to a really fun season!

However, what stood out even more was their attitude, as many of them said they wanted to play hard and enjoy the experience this time around. Moreover, this season isn’t just a celebration of Survivor’s legacy – it’s also one of the most unique ever. Titled In the Hands of the Fans, it includes gameplay twists and elements that were directly chosen by viewers.

So, with such an interesting premise, Season 50 is already shaping up to be intense and, of course, full of unpredictable moments. And if Jeff Probst’s early excitement is anything to go by, it isn’t just another season – it’s a full-circle moment for the franchise. And for fans, it might just be the adventure of a lifetime.

Season 50: Jeff Probst says choosing the cast was the hardest part

Survivor 50 is shaping up to be one of the most iconic seasons ever, but getting to the final cast wasn’t easy. Host Jeff Probst recently revealed that choosing just 24 returning players from hundreds of past contestants was a difficult task. In fact, he called the final cuts “brutal.”

The selection started with over 750 names and was narrowed down to just a few dozen. He compared the process to casting the ultimate movie – you want a mix of personalities, styles, and eras. He added via Entertainment Weekly:

Casting Survivor 50 was kind of like casting the ultimate all-time movie. And you think about all the actors who are alive today that you could put in that movie, but there is only so many roles, and we wanted 50 to be a little taste of everything.

And the final lineup features a little of everything: old-school legends, modern fan favorites, and even a couple of players from the upcoming Season 49. Out of the lot, one big name returning is The White Lotus creator Mike White, and according to the host, White never stopped asking to play again, even after his TV success. But despite this, some fans are happy; others are still upset about who didn’t make it.

That’s right – Carolyn Wiger, Jerri Manthey, and Sean Rector are just a few names fans hoped to see. Probst understands the disappointment but promises this season will still be unforgettable.
