Cal Fire Employee Arrested At Fire Station in Patterson
Per Manteca PD:
“The Manteca Police Department’s Investigations Unit has made an arrest following a cyber tip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The investigation determined that Joseph Trevor Forney was in possession of, had uploaded, and distributed child p*rnography — including content involving children under the age of 10.
Forney is a full-time employee of Cal Fire. On June 5, 2025, he was arrested while on duty at a Cal Fire station located in Patterson, California.
Detective Phillips, the Manteca Police Department’s Hi-Tech Crimes and Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Investigator, received the tip on May 8, 2025. Using specialized online investigation tools, Detective Phillips was able to identify Forney and confirm his involvement. Based on the evidence gathered, Detective Phillips obtained both a search warrant and an arrest warrant.
Joseph Trevor Forney, date of birth October 20, 1983, has been employed with Cal Fire since 2023. He has worked in the Patterson, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz areas. Forney has a prior criminal history in the state of Idaho, where he completed parole in 2024. His previous offenses are not related to child sexual exploitation.
Forney was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on the following charges:
• Penal Code 311.11(a) – Possession/distribution of obscene material depicting a minor – Felony
• Penal Code 311.11(c)(1) – Possession of obscene matter involving a sex act with a minor under 12 – Felony
•Penal Code 311.3(a) – Sexual depiction of a minor engaged in sexual conduct – Felony
•Penal Code 647.6(a)(1) – Annoying or molesting a victim under 18 years of age – Misdemeanor
