A new character is joining the ranks in Wind Breaker, someone fans have all been waiting for. As the action-packed anime enters the Roppo Ichiza Arc, Yamato Endo, the main antagonist, finally arrives in the story. He’s enticed us with his mysterious nature and intense physical appearance.
The rampant but predictable comparisons between Wind Breaker and Tokyo Revengers will never stop. They both come under the yanki genre, so it’s inevitable. Yamato’s introduction, however, made it even louder within the anime community.
The preview visual of Yamato Endo caused fans of Tokyo Revengers to call him a poor copy of adult Mikey’s appearance from 2018 because of the tattoos and black hair. The comparisons will possibly never end, especially once this arc in Wind Breaker plays out.
Tokyo Revengers fans are never going to let Wind Breaker escape the copy allegations
Yamato Endo has barely had any screentime in Wind Breaker, and fans are already quite excited. The anime teased his presence in Episode 3 of the second season, but Episode 10 is where he truly stirred things up. He clearly doesn’t have good intentions with his sadistic smile.

While manga readers know what’s coming in the Roppo Ichiza Arc, fans who only follow the anime are in for a ride. Endo is revealed to be the true mastermind behind everything happening in the series so far, making him the main and overarching antagonist in Wind Breaker. This offers a thrilling development in the series that is already quite action-packed.
It hasn’t all been smooth for Wind Breaker, though. Fans of Tokyo Revengers are still insistent it’s superior, and Yamato Endo looking similar to Mikey as an adult doesn’t help the allegations. A Twitter post by @animetv_jp/X complained about this under a post announcing his arrival, but the replies refuted it.
That’s literally just a copy of Mikey time skip

Still, even when the post isn’t about Tokyo Revengers, the fans had to attack Wind Breaker for it.
Why I thought this was toyko revengers 😭

Mikey’s adult appearance, however, doesn’t have as many tattoos as compared to Endo, who is covered in them. He ditched his iconic blond hair for black and wears a tank top and jacket, which does make their appearances quite similar. However, neither of them is a copy.
Is Wind Breaker’s Yamato Endo inspired by Mikey?
The yanki genre limits the character archetypes already. Wind Breaker and Tokyo Revengers characters are all very protective of their gang members. Their sense of camaraderie is intense and often leads to violence, as expected from the genre.
Yamato Endo, however, is significantly more twisted. His warm smile deceives just how dangerous he is. He’s a toxic teenager who harbors an odd obsession with Chika Takiishi. Fans aren’t quite sure if he deserves a redemption arc in Wind Breaker.

Mikey, on the other hand, is the deuteragonist-turned-antagonist of Tokyo Revengers, but his motives are nuanced, and the trauma he’s been through is enough to make anyone break.
So, the answer is no. Endo is a villain through and through, while Mikey is complicated. The only comparison they have is their appearance, and there’s not much fruit to it. Both series deserve to be recognized for their strengths and storylines.
Wind Breaker and Tokyo Revengers can currently be streamed on Crunchyroll.
