Who Is Nick Jonas Playing in Shout It Out Loud? Meet His Kiss Icon Role

Following the success and critical acclaim achieved by Bohemian Rhapsody, about Freddie Mercury and his rock band Queen—Hollywood is now churning out yet another film about the formation of the venerable hard rock band KISS, in the 1970s. Meanwhile, former Disney Channel star Nick Jonas is close to signing a role in the movie.

With the film titled Shout It Out Loud, set to go into production at the end of 2025 or in early 2026, Deadline announced Nick Jonas’s potential role. Considering how the 32-year-old has proven his acting chops, apart from headlining in the sibling band The Jonas Brothers, he is said to star as KISS lead singer.

Nick Jonas to play Paul Stanley in Shout It Out Loud

After rising to fame with Disney, alongside his sibling band The Jonas Brothers, the 32-year-old singer/actor Nick Jonas now seems to be planning on ditching pop for platform boots and face paint. Yes, the musical heartthrob-turned-actor is reportedly stepping into the spotlight as none other than Paul Stanley.

According to Deadline, as the biopic Shout It Out Loud, about the formation of the 70s rock band KISS, was percolating for years, McG finally agreed to helm the directorial role and began looking for suitable stars. Amid all this, Nick Jonas appeared in the mix of actors, who seemed suitable to play the legendary frontman of the rock band.

Yep, we’re talking about the guy with the star on his eye, the iconic voice behind Love Gun, and the energy of a rock-and-roll hurricane—that’s Paul Stanley for you. And now, according to the outlet, the 32-year-old Nick Jonas has been nearly locked in for the role, and will even do his own singing.

But guess what? This isn’t just another glam gig for Jonas, because he has been flexing his acting muscles for a while now. Remember his intense role in Goat, and his portrayal of an MMA fighter hiding his sexuality in Kingdom? And let’s not forget he totally crushed it in the Jumanji movies and had Broadway running through his veins.

So now, with such an angelic voice and impeccable acting chops, Nick Jonas seems to be the perfect choice to pull off Paul Stanley in Shout It Out Loud

Shout It Out Loud focuses on the formation of KISS

Well, now that we know Nick Jonas is close to signing his deal for Shout It Out Loud, let’s find out what this upcoming movie is set to be about.

Turns out, similar to Bohemian Rhapsody, even this movie under McG is set to be the origin story of KISS, the over-the-top, face-painted, fire-breathing rock band that changed music forever. Set in the glammy, chaotic ‘70s, the film will focus on Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons and how they came up with the iconic band.

From Stanley and Simmons being two misfit kids with big dreams and even bigger hair, to their team-up with Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, this film will delve into the emotional story of each band member and their reason behind teaming up to form this musical group. The film will be developed by Mark Canton, Simmons, Stanley, and Doc McGhee for Universal Music Publishing Group.

As per reports, Shout It Out Loud will primarily tap into Paul Stanley’s backstory, revealing how he wasn’t always the confident rock god, and how he struggled with being deaf in one ear and having a facial deformity as a kid. The film will showcase how music became his escape and how he transformed pain into power to become a superstar.

Further, the movie will also reflect on Gene Simmons’ life—how he went from a religious boy in a yeshiva to discovering his new religion: girls + rock and roll. And thereafter, bringing Ace Frehley and Peter Criss into the spotlight, the biopic will come full circle with alter egos, insane costumes, and arena-shaking anthems like Rock and Roll All Nite
