Solo Leveling is turning heads with all the hype around it because of its latest arc. The Jeju Island arc has quickly pushed this anime to new heights of popularity, as it has now overtaken One Piece as the most popular show.
Solo Leveling now has more ratings than One Piece on Crunchyroll, the anime streaming platform. However, does this unexpected surpass mean anything for the fans of both franchises?
There are many factors that can work against Solo Leveling, but it will not matter for One Piece. Hence, this ranking is a momentary trend that will not result in a long-term shift of power for Solo Leveling.
Why Crunchyroll’s number doesn’t really matter
Crunchyroll is definitely one of the biggest legal anime streaming platforms right now, with a massive collection of shows. Achieving 594K ratings here is a marvelous feat that Solo Leveling has pulled off. However, Solo Leveling is a show exclusive to Crunchyroll, enjoying its main viewer base here.
Contrary to this, One Piece is available to stream on multiple official platforms, including Netflix, Hulu, Pluto TV, etc. Apart from all this, one can also purchase each episode on Microsoft, Vudu, Amazon, Apple TV+, etc. With such a huge presence on the market, considering just Crunchyroll’s numbers for One Piece is not only wrong but also illogical.
Other than that, we are also not counting the unofficial streaming sites that some fans use to watch these shows. Solo Leveling is also available there, but again, it just cannot match One Piece’s popularity if we consider these things.
One Piece‘s physical media and manga sales are off the charts, so only considering Crunchyroll stats doesn’t paint a fair picture. Thus, One Piece’s longevity and consistency prove it is just being underrepresented on Crunchyroll and nothing else.
Why One Piece will reclaim its crown on Crunchyroll anyway
First of all, Crunchyroll is not the only platform that has One Piece on it, as we have discussed. But even then, One Piece is bound to reclaim its position as the most-rated show because of a simple factor: its continuity.
Solo Leveling Season 2 will end with two more episodes. However, One Piece will not end anytime soon. There is a high chance that even after we get all the seasons of Solo Leveling, One Piece will still continue.
On top of that, One Piece’s fandom is not just big but also fiercely loyal, so One Piece gaining the top position again is bound to happen. Plus, there is also the fact that the One Piece anime is literally on break right now. The moment it comes back, which will be soon, it will definitely surpass Solo Leveling again.

At the end of the day, hype-driven trends are temporary, but legacy and long-term engagement are not. One Piece fans certainly do not need to worry about this, as One Piece has always come out victorious all these years.
