8 Unanswered Questions That Will Haunt Us Until ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5

If you’ve been anywhere near Netflix (which we’re sure you have—who hasn’t?), you’ve probably heard that Stranger Things is gearing up to drop its fifth Season in 2025. Now, we’re not saying we’ve been waiting forever—but let’s just say the anticipation feels like watching paint dry on a wall in an abandoned house in Hawkins.

For years, we’ve been glued to our screens, dodging Demogorgons, fighting Vecna’s mind games, and praying that no one we love gets axed (literally and metaphorically) by the Upside-Down.

Season 5 is the big finale, but don’t expect this wild ride of a show to wrap everything up neatly in a little bow. We mean, we’re talking about a show that’s had more twists than a pretzel factory. From Will Byers’ eerie connection with Vecna to Max’s coma to the mysterious origins of the Upside-Down itself—Season 5 has a lot of ground to cover.

And let’s not even start with the emotional baggage we’re about to unpack. Ergo, what exactly do we need to know before we dive headfirst into Stranger Things Season 5? Well, for starters, we’ve got a laundry list of burning questions we think need answers. Let’s break them down!

8. Is Hawkins strong enough to withstand the Upside-Down’s chaos?

Hawkins has been through a lot—like, a lot—since the whole mess with the Upside-Down began. The town was already on its knees before the Season 5 curtain even rose. It’s hard to imagine a world where Hawkins somehow escapes the long, dark shadow that has been cast over it. With the Upside-Down creeping into every crack and crevice, Season 5 will need to answer a huge question: Can Hawkins survive this invasion, or is the town as doomed as a phone call in a horror movie?

Rumor has it that Season 5 will start with a time jump, which makes sense. After all, the cast isn’t getting any younger—Millie Bobby Brown is in her 20s now, and we don’t think she’s still going to be rocking that ‘fresh-faced 16-year-old’ look much longer. But a time jump also means that the Upside-Down’s influence will have had years to wreak havoc slowly.

Will Hawkins become a ghost town? Or is there hope for a fresh start?

7. What’s the deal with Will and Vecna’s psychic link?

Alright, let’s talk about Will Byers (Noah Schnapp). This kid has been through more than any teenager should have to endure, and somehow, he’s still standing (barely). However, one thing that has been left a mystery from day one is his spooky connection to Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).

We mean, the kid was basically the first ‘chosen one’ when it came to the Upside-Down. But what’s going on with this psychic bond? Is Will secretly harboring some supernatural powers that he doesn’t even know about? Fans have been speculating for years, and we’re just dying for answers. Could he be the villain in disguise? Stranger Things Season 5 better pull the curtain back on this one.

6. Is Eddie Munson gone for good?

Listen, we still haven’t fully recovered from Eddie Munson’s devastating exit in Season 4. That death hit harder than a sucker punch to the gut. But Stranger Things has a funny way of resurrecting characters—hello, Hopper’s ‘death’ in Season 3. So the big question is: Could Eddie’s death be a fake-out?

Could he come back in some form, maybe even as an unexpected ally in the final showdown? Eddie’s death was emotional, but if the show can pull some time-traveling wizardry, we’d totally be okay with it.

5. Did Dr. Brenner really die?

Ah, Dr. Brenner. The man, the myth, the questionable moral compass. We saw him bite the dust in Season 4, but did he really, truly die? We mean, come on—this guy survived a Demogorgon attack. He lived through a whole bunch of messed-up things at Hawkins Lab. So why do we have this sneaky suspicion that Brenner’s ‘death’ wasn’t as permanent as we all thought? Could he come back in some twisted way to haunt Eleven and everyone else in Hawkins?

Fans are ready to be shocked by Stranger Things.

4. Can Eleven ever have a normal life?

Poor Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). The girl has faced more trauma than anyone should in their entire life. We mean, first, she was a lab experiment, then she fought monsters from another dimension, and now she’s battling Vecna for the fate of the world. You’d think she’d be entitled to some peace, right? But can she ever live a normal life?

Is she ever going to get a chance to go to a prom without worrying about the world crumbling around her? We’d like to think that after all she’s been through, Eleven deserves at least a little slice of normalcy. But given how things are going, we’re not sure she’ll get a happy ending without some major sacrifices.

3. What happened to Kali and the other test subjects?

Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven in a serious moment from Stranger Things, displaying a determined and focused expression.

Remember Kali, Eleven’s long-lost sister, introduced in that controversial Season 2 episode? Yeah, we try not to. After her brief stint on screen, she and the other test subjects have kind of been swept under the rug. But Season 5 might just bring them back, and will they be allies or enemies in the final fight?

We’re betting on a chaotic alliance where Kali gets dragged into the mess, either by Vecna’s manipulation or by Eleven’s desperate need for backup. Either way, we’re ready for this plotline to be revisited.

2. Will Nancy end up with Jonathan, Steve, or neither of them?

Oh, the classic love triangle. Will Nancy (Natalia Dyer) end up with Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), her current love interest, or will she realize that Steve (Joe Keery)—yes, Steve Harrington—might actually be the one for her? This is the romance we never thought we’d be emotionally invested in, but here we are, waiting for Nancy’s heart to make its final decision.

After all, if the world is ending, she might as well make it count.

1. Did Vecna’s presence impact the people of Hawkins?

Stranger Things Season 5 is likely going to be a direct result of the havoc that Vecna has already wreaked on Hawkins. The town’s descent into paranoia and fear throughout Season 4 was nothing short of a fever pitch, with a Satanic panic taking hold of the whole community.

But was this chaos a product of Vecna’s powers? After all, he thrives on fear and uses it to manipulate his victims. Season 5 should really dig into how much of the town’s mass hysteria can be attributed to Vecna’s influence—and how much was just good ol’ small-town panic. It’s got to be more than just coincidence.

As we wait for Stranger Things Season 5 to grace our screens in 2025, we’re left with more questions than answers. Whatever happens, we know Hawkins will never be the same again. Whether the town survives, whether Eleven can live her life, and whether anyone can finally escape the clutches of the Upside-Down are questions that will keep haunting us until the very last episode.

Let’s just hope there’s at least one happy ending somewhere in there.

Stranger Things, you’ve got one last shot to make us cry. Don’t blow it!
