‘We know what’s coming’: Solo Leveling Episode 10 Casually Dropped a Diabolical Cliffhanger, but What Does It Mean for the Story?

Solo Leveling might seem overhyped to some, but the series is truly upping its game with Season 2. Be it animation or fight scenes, it is top-notch and lives up to its much deserved hype. And like most episodes, the tenth episode left fans wanting more, but that’s not it.

The episode ended on a deeply diabolical cliffhanger, as some fans put it. However, this isn’t the first time the creators did something of the sort, which only means one thing. The series is gearing up for more epicness in the upcoming episodes.

Episode – 10 leaves fans with a diabolical cliffhanger

It was all about the emotions in episode 9 that made us fans go into a cryfest. But what it also did was prove that Jinwoo isn’t a run-of-the-mill Shonen protagonist. There is strength in vulnerability and that moment breaks the ironclad rule of shonen being completely action-oriented.

This, however, did not sit well with most fans, especially with the amount of dislikes. But hey, love triumphs hate, which is why the toxicity didn’t matter for the most part. The tenth episode, however, took it up a notch with Goto Ryuji and Jinwoo’s fight.

Both Jinwoo and Ryuji were toe to toe against each other in terms of power. It was cool in every sense with Jinwoo restraining his opponent’s move. Call it aura farming but the animators didn’t hold back in giving our MC some edge.

Cha Hae-in, however, is second to none as seen with her fluid combat. Her dance-like fighting style against Kumamoto and Tawata was brilliant until our MC stepped in to protect her. But what has most fans bummed out was the episode ending in a cliffhanger.

On r/sololeveling, readers discussed the cliffhanger and they sure know what’s brewing up for future episodes.

Let’s face it, cliffhangers are a true nail biter. The anticipation and build-up, however, is necessary to sustain the element of mystery and surprise. This is exactly what the animators are doing. Along with pace, they’re perfectly executing these aspects, which means they’re gearing up for more epicness.

Solo Leveling gears up for more epicness

Solo Leveling is all about leveling up and we’re here for it. This also applies to the key elements of storytelling, including the cliffhanger. The episode didn’t hold back in terms of its gore and some even compared it to the manhwa. Jinwoo’s bloodlust is rather toned down because of the aura farming.

In the manhwa, we see a darker side to him, especially when he kills off the hunters. This would be on a whole other level in his fight against the Ant King. The ending gave us a glimpse of Beru’s silhouette featuring merely his eyes.

The raid scene showed Yoonho incapacitating a white ant with his strength. And as the Ant King awakens, it is only a matter of time before they wreak havoc. With Beru’s glimpse in the end, one thing is clear. The upcoming episodes might showcase one of the legendary battles in the manhwa.

All in all, the Jeju Island Arc is about high stakes and power-packed battles. With the upcoming episodes, the anticipation and wait is about to end. It is only going to get interesting from this point onwards.

Solo Leveling is available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The manhwa is available for reading on Tapas.
