“Stories get dragged on too long”: Nezuko Voice Actress on ‘Demon Slayer’ Entering Its Final Stretch

It has been six years since Demon Slayer came out, and it is now approaching its grand finale with the release of the Infinity Castle movie trilogy. The series, which stunned the world with its magnificent visuals and exceptional quality, managed to worm its way into being a part of the mainstream media.

Many barriers that previously constrained the anime were broken by Demon Slayer. It soon skyrocketed to global fame with Mugen Train, and set the standard for later anime adaptations. In fact, the art and visuals of the anime are so good they far surpass the art of the original source (it was a manga).

Now that the fame of the series is at an all-time high, Demon Slayer will conclude its anime adaptation in cinematic fashion. They hope to release three movies to end the epic storyline.

The importance of a well-timed ending in anime

For longtime fans, this marks an emotional turning point in the journey of many years, and for voice actors like Abby Trott, it’s a significant moment as well.

Trott is the English voice actress for Nezuko Kamado, the sister of Tanjiro and an important and beloved character in the series. She recently reflected on the series’ conclusion and spoke about how all good things must come to an end. Trott said in the interview-

I have mixed emotions. I’m sad because obviously it’s exciting when the new arcs are coming out and more of the story is being told, but I am also happy that there is an end to the story. I think that sometimes, stories get dragged on too long, longer than they should, and they kind of lose quality.

Playing such a major character was a learning experience for Trott and in an interview with CBR, she admitted that she was having mixed emotions about Demon Slayer wrapping up at this time, but also said that it is much better than the shows that drag on and on meaninglessly.

There are indeed many series that went on for far longer than they should have, declining in quality and popularity, disappointing their long-time fans.

A bittersweet goodbye to Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer is a sensation and should not have to go through such a thing. Abby Trott said that the Infinity Castle trilogy will provide a fitting conclusion and is extremely confident that it will be just right for the series.

While Demon Slayer is set to end, its legacy will live on, the way it broke box office records across the world and fascinated many into venturing into the endless world of manga and anime, its impact is unquestionable. That may be why Trott said it was a bittersweet thing.

So, I’m hoping, and I’m confident, that the animators can wrap this up in a beautiful way with a beautiful bow, and it’s gonna be one of the best series in my mind. I think it’s run its course in the best way possible, for me. Bittersweet, I would say.

For now, fans eagerly await the Infinity Castle trilogy, and it is not time to tear up yet. With the first movie arriving in North America on September 12, 2025, the excitement is at an all-time high.

No matter what happens and how the story is concluded, Demon Slayer has already stolen the hearts of many fans across the world and will leave a legacy to last a very long time.

Demon Slayer is streaming on Crunchyroll.
