The Machrie Hotel & Golf Links is looking to hire a General Manager and Housekeeping Assistant.

Bosses are looking for a “natural, empathetic leader” to bring “authority, inspiration and motivation” for the management role.

The ideal applicant should have extensive hospitality experience, up-to-date knowledge of the industry and an exceptional front-of-house background.

Benefits include a “competitive salary”, accommodation options, special rates for friends and family and paid time off when the hotel closes in winter.

The description adds: “The Machrie is set in the dunes above a seven-mile beach on Islay, remote, yet one of the most easily accessible Hebridean islands off the west coast of Scotland.

“The hotel has 43 rooms, a world-class golf links (ranked in Golf World’s Top 100 courses worldwide), outside sauna and hot tub wild garden, two restaurants, screening room and modern art collection.

“More than just a place to stay, the hotel is a destination – offering a combination of active relaxation, wild and uncrowded natural beauty, social golf and an exceptional true links experience, the freshest Islay seafood and local produce, world-famous whiskies (there are 10 distilleries on the island), teeming wildlife and authentic island culture.

“Whether it’s teeing off at dawn or toasting marshmallows on the beach deck firepit while keeping watch for the Northern Lights, The Machrie experience is like no other.”

Meanwhile, a “lively, attentive and energetic” individual is sought for the hotel’s housekeeping team.

The successful applicant will receive £24,960 a year as well as “excellent career prospects” and room and restaurant discounts.

“You’ll be most content working behind the scenes, but warm and friendly with everyone you meet and feel valued in your team. You’ll understand the importance of the work you do and will be proud when you notice and fix even the smallest of details.

“Trust makes our team strong and happy. Once you’re trained up and confident you’ll become a housekeeper and be given the space to manage your own list, with contracted hours and the opportunity for overtime if you want to do more.”
