It’s About Time Fans Started Realizing How Solo Leveling Blatantly Copied Hunter x Hunter

No matter what, one can’t deny that Solo Leveling has so far been a havocing hype train and often seemed like it was unstoppable by any other show. After all, it does have all the perks that make it an instant masterpiece for any new viewer, be that an anime fan or not. While people had huge concerns that the anime adaptation might not do justice to the Manhwa’s crazy art style, Season 2 completely shook off those suspicions.

However, it turns out that even Solo Leveling did the unthinkable one thing, that every fan hates. That’s why, it’d surely sound quite harsh to the fans, so take it with a grain of salt, but the fact is, Solo Leveling did a complete Xerox copy of a lot of themes from another classic Shonen series, that is Hunter x Hunter! Here’s how.

The uncanny similarities between Solo Leveling and Hunter x Hunter

You’d be quite surprised to know just how much the two series resemble each other, with a lot of narrative plot points that even raise the question of whether Solo Leveling is actually worth watching or not? As was already mentioned, Solo Leveling does have its moments where it shines the brightest, but how can you completely overlook these?

Solo Leveling and Hunter x Hunter both have “Hunters”, a profession where the most powerful people in their respective worlds are enlisted, and then you have the “Hunter Association“! Again, the same exact name is used in both series, which does the exact same thing: operating the hunters.

Also, both series have characters that measure their magic powers through the term called “Aura”, and other characters with similar powers can feel each individual’s potential through this. Now, if you think this is getting a bit too much, then sorry to inform you, it’s just starting! The final blow is yet to come. Solo Leveling fans, keep your tissue papers ready because the next thing you’re about to hear might just make you ugly cry.

The Jeju Island arc vs the Chimera Ant Arc!

In case you didn’t know already, and were unfortunate enough not to have watched Hunter x Hunter yet, then maybe it’s time you should. It’s all because the Chimera Ant arc in Hunter x Hunter is unquestionably worshipped by all the people who watched it. But now you might be wondering, what’s the similarity between this and Solo Leveling though?

As the arc name already suggests, the Chimera Ant arc obviously deals with ants, who are also life-sized, just like what we got here in the Jeju Island arc from Solo Leveling! And not just that, even both ant species have similar goals; they just want to take over the human government and sit on the throne as the earth’s most powerful creatures. So, are you still not convinced that Solo Leveling is just a copycat? Then there’s more to it.

In the Chimera Ant arc, the queen of the ants gives birth to the most powerful (so-called) being in the entire universe and names him Meruem. And what we have in Solo Leveling is just him with a different name, i.e., Beru (both have “ru” in their names though).

So, judging from all that info, if you still find it hard to admit that Solo Leveling did nothing but copy-pasted Hunter x Hunter, then you must be the one who’s insane. In fact, even some fans are finally starting to understand these obvious similarities, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Both Solo Leveling and Hunter x Hunter are available to watch on Crunchyroll.
