During the trial, when severe allegations were being made against the Pirates of the Carribean star, several of his exes and friends came forward to vouch for his him, pleading his innocence. However, the one person who did not speak up was Depp’s daughter, Lily-Rose Depp.
As a result, the actress was heavily criticized by fans for not speaking for her father. However, the actress once revealed the reason why she chose to remain silent over the matter.

Back when Johnny Depp and Amber Heard‘s trial was going on, several celebrities or friends of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory star spoke up about Depp and defended him. But his own daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, chose to remain silent throughout.
Born to Depp and actress Vanessa Paradis, Lily-Rose has been kept away from the media as much as she can, and was also protected from the same by her parents while growing up. As a result, she is a pretty private person who chooses to keep her personal life away from public scrutiny.
When asked by Elle during an interview back in 2022 why she has not commented on her famous father, the Nosferatu star stated:
When it’s something that’s so private and so personal that all of a sudden becomes not so personal…I feel really entitled to my secret garden of thoughts.
She later added that she doesn’t want her career to be defined by others in her life.
I also think that I’m not here to answer for anybody, and I feel like for a lot of my career, people have really wanted to define me by the men in my life, whether that’s my family members or my boyfriends, whatever. And I’m really ready to be defined for the things that I put out there.
Well, the actress is not wrong for trying to live her own life and make her own way in the industry since women often tend to be referred to by the ‘men’ in their lives, be it the film industry or elsewhere. Moreover, the actress has long been plagued by nepotism comments, thanks to her famous parents. On the other hand, Lily-Rose Depp was rumored to be quite close to Depp’s infamous ex, Amber Heard.

While Lily-Rose Depp might not have chosen to speak about her father or her father’s ex when they were battling out in court, her name did end up being taken during Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s trial. During her testimony, Heard claimed that she felt too protective of Lily-Rose despite knowing her for only a short while, which reportedly made Depp upset with her.
Furthermore, she also disliked how Depp reportedly introduced her daughter to weed when she was just 13 years old, which made Heard pretty concerned. While Depp revealed he did it for her own good since she did not want his daughter to end up doing drugs in the presence of people she did not know, he also claimed that it was done after a consultation with his ex, Vanessa Paradis (via PEOPLE). Heard, apparently, was not too pleased with this decision.
Moreover, the text messages between Lily-Rose and her father and Heard, presented during the trial as evidence, seemed to show that Lily-Rose was happy with the Aquaman star and even called her a good influence on her father and his alcohol issues (via Daily Beast). More text messages showed that Heard and Lily-Rose were on good terms and even made plans to meet.
