Poor governance and policy choices have stunted Ghana’s prospects – Mahama

President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has indicated that Ghana has seen stunted growth in her development because of poor governance and policy choices.

He indicates that the country’s prospects have stunted and has been left with serious challenges.

John Dramani Mahama, who was speaking on Ghana’s Oil discovery and the prospects it had then to help propel the country’s development, noted that it has not been the case.

“18 years ago when we were celebrating our 50 years of Independence, we celebrated the discovery of offshore oil and gas. It was a moment of optimism, promising a new era of economic transformation and attracting significant investment into Ghana’s petroleum sector,” he said.

Adding that “However, in recent years, poor governance, and policy choices have stunted our prospects and left us reeling from serious challenges. This stark reality far from dampening our spirits must spur us on to strive for rapid development”.

However, he believes that this should not dampen the spirit of the Ghanaian people but rather spur them on to strive for rapid development.

The President was speaking at the 68th Independence Day parade when he made this known.

He noted that if forebearers did not despair, it will be imperative that the current generation, armed with enough will, ensure that they achieve greatness.
