Major blaze erupts in central London filling skyline with smoke seen for miles & turning air ‘hazy’ during rush hour

A HUGE fire has broken out in central London today during rush hour.

The blaze was visible for miles on Thursday morning with smoke billowing into the sky.

Footage taken from the 8th floor of the BBC Broadcasting House appeared to show the plume around Tottenham Court Road.

One person wrote on social media: “It absolutely stinks here in Oxford Circus. The air is hazy with smoke.”

London Fire Brigade said: “Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters are at the scene of a fire near Tottenham Street in #Fitzrovia.

Please avoid the area and keep windows and doors closed due to smoke travel.
