Aldis Hodge has added several new roles to his resume in recent years, but his most important is being a new father.
The Cross star, 38, told Us Weekly exclusively at the 2025 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards that his daughter, whose name and birthday he has not shared publicly, is beginning to learn what her famous dad does for a living.
“I think she kind of knows,” Hodge said about his daughter. “I mean, she sees me on TV. I don’t think she gets it or puts it together, but she’s like, ‘Papa!’ And then she’s back to running the rest of my house, being my boss. She’s amazing.”
Hodge previously gushed about his daughter, explaining that playing Detective Alex Cross — who’s also a young father — on Prime Video’s thriller series Cross gives him a feeling of “déjà vu.” Alex Cross is raising two children as a single dad while also juggling a high-profile career as a police detective in Washington, D.C.

“My little mama is my whole world,” Hodge told TheGrio about his daughter in July 2024. “Honestly, as scary as it is on a regular basis — because you don’t want to mess up, you don’t know if you’re doing the right thing — I have the most ease and the most confidence when it comes to my daughter. Because she’s just the light of my life. I think in many ways, she has saved my life.”
Hodge added, “As a parent, there’s a lot of things that come up that you may not have known,” noting that fatherhood has given him “the tools to be the right kind of teacher.”
“It’s a strange parallel with that and also dealing with Cross,” the actor explained. “He’s a father, and to a degree, deals with some of the same things. I thought that was actually pretty cool. Shooting the show and going through that, I was like, ‘Oh, this is déjà vu?’”

Season 1 of Cross premiered in November 2024, and fans are clamoring for more. Hodge teased the series’ upcoming season, sharing that new episodes may be available by the end of this year.
“All I can say is that the stories are getting more in depth,” Hodge told Us. “You’ll be learning about other characters that you love. The ride is crazier, it’s wilder. I can’t tell you when we’re coming out, but we will be coming out hopefully towards, maybe, the later part of the year. But that’s all I can share.”
