Ablakwa lied; Foreign Affairs Ministry don’t own lands; never sold lands—Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong

Former Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, has described as false claims by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa that some Foreign Affairs Ministry lands were sold under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

According to him, the Ministry has never owned lands and has never been involved in any form of land sales under the previous government.

He explains that the lands in question are lands belonging to the state and controlled by the Lands Commission.

Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong is shocked that the Foreign Affairs Minister will peddle falsehood.

“My response is that the report coming from the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is 120% false. There has never been any land sales at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the previous administration under Akufo-Addo, the reason being that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs never owned the lands in question.

I don’t know where he is coming from. Maybe he slept at the wrong side of the bed. I am saying the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has never owned those lands and has never ever sold any land. I don’t know where he is getting it from—whether he was dreaming and conjuring it from somewhere, but those lands that he is referring to are not owned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Secondly, those lands are owned by the Ghana Government, controlled and managed by the Lands Çommission. Any allocation that has been done in that area was an allocation done by the Lands Commission,” he told Metro TV in an interview.

Background

The Foreign Affairs Minister in a post shared via social media indicated that the president had ordered a reversal of Foreign Affairs Ministry lands.

His post read “President Mahama has directed that all allocations and sale of land belonging to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the previous government be immediately reversed.

Yesterday’s presidential directive will ensure that the Ministry’s adjoining land at Airport Residential which some 7 organizations and individuals claim to be the new owners would now be cancelled and preserved for the people of Ghana.

I am enormously grateful to President Mahama for his unwavering patriotic and decisive presidential backing.

Under my watch as Foreign Minister, no land or property of the Ministry, located either home or abroad would be sold.

No more State Capture!

For God and Country.

Ghana First”.
