Angelina Jolie looked every bit the proud mom as her eldest daughter, 20-year-old Zahara, reached an inspiring new milestone. The college sophomore — who is incredibly involved at Spelman College — was recently the keynote speaker at the Women in Training Inc.’s Mother-Daughter Brunch.
Much like her mother, Zahara is proving that activism is important to her. And not only is she joining movements that speak to her, but she is now speaking out about them at major public gatherings.
Jolie was in the crowd and looked so proud as she watched her daughter — who she shares with ex Brad Pitt along with kids Pax, Shiloh, Knox, Vivienne, and Maddox — took to the stage and talk about the importance of making sure girls and women have access to period care.
“We are truly honored that [Zahara] will speak at the Fourth Annual WIT Mother-Daughter Brunch about her passion to end period poverty, which is the mission of Women in Training,” Adeyela Bennett, the organization’s president, told WAKA 8 Action News.
“We are also excited that her mother, the internationally renowned movie star Angelina Jolie, will join us to support her daughter and to support our goal of ensuring that every girl and young woman has the products she needs to live her life to the fullest extent,” Bennett continued.
Though little has been said about the content of Zahara’s speech, we can tell from the look on Jolie’s face (see photos HERE) that she was incredibly moved.

During her freshman year at Spelman College, Zahara joined the HBCU’s Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. A video of her induction went viral, and fans loved the pure joy of Zahara introducing herself.
“I don’t even know her full story but going from being an orphan to having thousands of sisters globally is such a powerful and emotional testimony. Congratulations ♥️,” one person said. Others were so impressed with the Oscar winner’s commitment to making sure her daughter — who she adopted from Ethiopia in 2005 — is connected to her Black culture.
“S/o to the white parents who ensure their black children get to have cultured experiences,” one person said. “Angelina has always been a humanitarian so it only makes sense that her children continue in service ❤️ love this.”
“When babygirl shook that Afro I felt the ancestors cheer. Welcome home baby. Welcome home,” another added.
Since then, Zahara’s involvement at Spelman and with AKA has only grown and Jolie’s commitment has not waned. The way Zahara follows in her mom’s philanthropic footsteps, and the way her mom is beaming in the wings, tugs on all the heartstrings.
