I thought my Next fleece was cute til my kids congratulated me on my new Tesco job… my daughter didn’t even recognise me

A MUM has left people in hysterics after revealing why her kids congratulated her on her ‘new Tesco job’ – that she didn’t have.

Sarah hit the school run wearing her new cobalt blue fleece top from Next, which she showed off by going coatless as it was such a nice day.

But because of how similar the colour was to the Tesco uniform, her kids mistakenly thought she’d started working at the supermarket[/caption]

But when she got to the gates to pick up her kids, she was somewhat surprised to find that her daughter didn’t even recognise her.

“I’m standing in the playground and I’m looking at my little girl and she’s like looking through me and I’m like, ‘Hello, hello I’m over here!’” Sarah said in a video on her TikTok page.

“Eventually she catches my eye and she comes running up.

“She’s looking at me funny and she’s like, ‘Have you got a new job?’ and I say ‘No’.”

The next thing she knew, her son came out, looking “really excited” to see her.

“He comes running towards me and he’s like, ‘Oh my god, Mum, I’m so excited!’”

When Sarah asked him why he was excited, he replied: “Because you’ve got a new job!”

“And I’m like, ‘What is this, where have I got a new job?’”

He then revealed he thought she’d got a job at Tesco, which Sarah was extremely confused about before she twigged.

“I’ve worn my new fleece haven’t I… I’ve worn my fleece,” she sighed.

“Apparently this looks like a Tesco uniform!

“And before anyone asks it’s from Next.”

Concluding her video, Sarah hilariously said: “I like to be helpful because, well, every little helps.”

The comments section was almost immediately filled with people laughing at Sarah’s tale, as well as sharing their own similar mix-ups.

“I had a maroon Superdry hoody once with an orange logo,” one wrote.

“My kids thought I got a job in Sainsburys!”

Insider tip from a Tesco employee

A Tesco employee has revealed a surprising secret about the self-scan trolleys.

According to the worker, random checks on customers using these trolleys are not entirely random.

The checks are actually triggered by a specific customer habit.

If you frequently pick up and put down items without scanning them, you’re more likely to be selected for a check.

This is due to the system detecting suspicious behaviour, which could indicate potential theft.

So, to avoid delays, it’s best to scan items immediately after placing them in your trolley.

“I still remember as a child accidentally asking a random stranger in a blue t-shirt where something was in Tesco!” another giggled.

“I picked my niece up when she was in primary school wearing satin striped wide leg trousers, she was side eyeing me when she came out and said ‘Why have you picked me up in your PJs?’” a third admitted.

“I’m gonna need this exact Tesco hoody… gorgeous!” someone else said.

And for anyone else keen to emulate Sarah’s look, the blue fleece is called the Cobalt Blue Hooded Elbow Patch Borg Fleece Jacket, and comes in at £42.
