Former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Gifty Oware-Mensah, has returned to Ghana after a brief stay abroad.
A video sighted by MyNewsGh.com shows Oware-Mensah arriving at Kotoka International Airport, dressed in a light pink long top, blue jeans, and a black scarf.
She was welcomed by filmmaker Socrate Safo and other loved ones.
Her return follows widespread speculation that she had absconded amid an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities at the NSS.
A recent audit revealed over 81,885 ghost names on the scheme’s payroll, prompting a probe by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).
However, her lawyers have refuted claims that she was evading justice. In a statement dated February 28, 2025, legal representatives Sarkodie Baffour Awuah and Partners clarified that Oware-Mensah had only traveled for a break after the 2024 elections and had no intention of relocating from Ghana.
Gifty Oware-Mensah, who is also a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, has not publicly commented on the allegations.
Her return to the country is expected to provide further clarity on her involvement in the ongoing NSS investigations.
