A Super Soft Double Electric Blanket is scanning for just £10 at Dunelm

The post read: “Thank you to those who posted about the Dunelm sale. Went to my local store. Got these as gifts. Total cost £18 bargain!”

The lucky shopper managed to snap up two pairs of cosy slippers, a teddy bear, and an electric blanket for just £18 – a steal compared to the usual £40 price tag.

Other group members were quick to share their excitement, with one commenting: “Omg, the electric blanket was reduced to £10 when I went too.”

Another chimed in: “How lucky!”, while a third added: “I’m gonna have to check my Dunelm ASAP.”

The electric blanket, which is flying off shelves, is only available in-store.

You can find your local Dunelm store using the store locator tool.

But don’t worry if you can’t get to a store – Dunelm is still offering plenty of other warm deals.

Dunelm’s Cosy and Warm double electric blanket is currently half price online, down from £30 to just £15.

The retailer also offers free click-and-collect or delivery from £3.95.

If you’re after more options, Tesco has slashed the price of its Silent Night electric blanket to £12.50 for a double and £10 for a single.

Meanwhile, Dreams is offering a luxury double electric blanket for half price, down from £40 to £20.

However, this one is only available online but has free delivery.

It’s always important to price compare and check what is on offer across different stores to make sure you’re getting the best value for money.

With energy bills soaring, electric blankets are becoming a go-to solution for staying warm without breaking the bank.

According to research from Uswitch, electric blankets use just 80 watts of energy and cost a mere 2p an hour to run.

If you were to use an electric blanket for one hour a day, every day of the year, it would cost you just £7.30 in total.

That’s a huge saving compared to cranking up the heating.

Uswitch energy expert Ben Gallizzi explained: “Electric blankets and throws are a great way to keep warm without putting on the heating for the whole house.

“Electric blankets that go under your fitted sheet typically use less energy, as they are designed to be used for the whole night.

“The average device might use between 60W and 100W, while some modern energy-efficient models could use as little as 15W.”

However, if you opt for an electric throw, you could end up paying a bit more.

These gadgets use 160 watts of energy and cost 4p an hour to run.

Winter Warmers

It’s not just electric blankets that are keeping Brits warm this winter.

Last month, mums were raving about Dunelm’s small oil-filled radiator, which costs just 14p an hour to run and means you don’t need to crank up the central heating.

Shoppers have been impressed with the bargain buy, which currently has an average rating of four out of five stars online.

One happy customer wrote: “Perfect little heater. This small oil-filled radiator is perfect for keeping feet and legs warm whilst sitting, especially when at a desk and computer, without needing the main central heating on.”

Another added: “A neat little heater just enough to ‘take the chill off’.”

Another way to keep the house warm efficiently is to use Martin Lewis38p radiator hack, which suggests putting foil behind radiators to optimise heating.

The purse-friendly heating trick was also praised by the experts at Which?, who said that by putting foil behind radiators you will allow the heat to be reflected back into the room.

Top tips to keep energy bills down

With energy costs still sky-high, it’s no wonder Brits are looking for ways to cut back.

Experts recommend layering up with cosy blankets, thick socks, and warm clothing before turning up the heating.

Using timers on your heating or electric blanket can also help avoid wasting energy.

Sealing draughts with excluders or thermal curtains is another great way to keep the warmth in.

And, of course, shopping around for energy-efficient gadgets like electric blankets and heaters can help you get the most value for your money.

So, if you’re looking to stay warm without burning a hole in your pocket, now’s the time to check out Dunelm’s winter sale – before these hot deals disappear.

For those struggling with the cost of bills it’s important to know there is help available.

What energy bill help is available?

There’s a number of different ways to get help paying your energy bills if you’re struggling to get by.

If you fall into debt, you can always approach your supplier to see if they can put you on a repayment plan before putting you on a prepayment meter.

This involves paying off what you owe in instalments over a set period.

If your supplier offers you a repayment plan you don’t think you can afford, speak to them again to see if you can negotiate a better deal.

Several energy firms have schemes available to customers struggling to cover their bills.

But eligibility criteria vary depending on the supplier and the amount you can get depends on your financial circumstances.

For example, British Gas or Scottish Gas customers struggling to pay their energy bills can get grants worth up to £2,000.

British Gas also offers help via its British Gas Energy Trust and Individuals Family Fund.

You don’t need to be a British Gas customer to apply for the second fund.

EDF, E.ON, Octopus Energy and Scottish Power all offer grants to struggling customers too.

Thousands of vulnerable households are missing out on extra help and protections by not signing up to the Priority Services Register (PSR).

The service helps support vulnerable households, such as those who are elderly or ill.

Some of the perks include being given advance warning of blackouts, free gas safety checks and extra support if you’re struggling.

Get in touch with your energy firm to see if you can apply.
