Colter Shaw’s Next Mystery Takes Him to Amusement Park in ‘Tracker’ Season 2, Episode 12

As the big Shaw family mystery continues to unravel on Tracker, Colter Shaw will be faced with another puzzling case in the upcoming season 2, episode 12. The episode, which will air on Sunday, March 9, is titled “Monster.”

“Colter is hired to find a mother in Ohio who went missing after tucking her son in for the night,” the official synopsis of the episode says.

In photos released by CBS ahead of the episode, it looks like Colter will find himself searching for answers at an amusement park.

The network also released a teaser trailer for “Monster.” In the clip, Colter is heard asking someone how long their daughter has been missing.

Someone is then seen pulling out a knife while holding the victim captive.

“The monster took my mommy,” a child tells Colter, to which Colter responds, “I’m going to do everything I can to bring her home, OK?”

Colter is seen running through the amusement park and pulling out his gun while entering a restricted area.

While the tidbits released about the episode so far seem compelling, fans are hoping Colter finally gets to the bottom of solving his father’s murder. Justin Hartley, who plays Colter, teased that season 2 will lead his character one step closer to cracking the case.

“We’ll figure out a lot more, and [Colter will] get more leads. But sometimes when you get more leads and find out more information, it just unravels more s–t, and sometimes that’s more interesting,” Justin, 48, told TV Insider in February.

He explained that by the end of season 2, viewers will have a better idea about who might have killed Ashton Shaw.

“The way in which he died and the mystery behind it and what he was involved with and who he was involved in it with being the government and all that kind of stuff, there are so many threads to this that he’s following, and it is almost like he almost needs a wall to write things down, almost needs like a Dexter wall,” the This Is Us alum continued. “It certainly unravels here towards the end of the season.”

Still, Justin did not confirm that season 2 would wrap up with Ashton’s murder fully being solved. It might wait until the show’s season 3.

“I don’t like the idea of wrapping things up in a pretty little bow just for the sake of the fact that it’s the final episode of the season, and so we write to the plot so that everyone’s like, oh, great, everything’s perfect and fine, and we can go and make a third season,” he explained. “I don’t really like that idea. I’m not really interested in that.”

“I’m more interested in propelling the story in a way that makes sense, and if it ends up being four episodes or 44 episodes or 144 episodes to tell the most compelling story, then that’s what it is,” Justin added. “Not just trying to get more episodes in the bag or trying to finish a story in time. I think there’s a beautiful way to tell a story in sort of the best way, and I think that’s what we should do. And all the writers are on board with that, too, everyone wants to do that.”

New episodes of Tracker air on CBS on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET and are available to stream on Paramount+.
