It is understood the illicit operation spanned across two floors, with rooms filled with grow pots.

They seized a cultivation with an estimated street value of up to £523,000.

A source told The Scottish Sun: “There were plants everywhere.

“Whoever was using it has left the place in some mess.

“It was a huge operation and must be worth a fortune.

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.”

Detectives confirmed that their investigation is ongoing as they work to identify those responsible.

This evening, officers issued an appeal for information to assist in tracking down the culprits.

Detective Sergeant Jon Atkin said: “This is a significant recovery and highlights our ongoing efforts to disrupt the trade in illegal drugs across Scotland.

“It also demonstrates our commitment to the Serious and Organised Crime Taskforce and Scotland’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy.

“We continue to urge anyone with information or concerns about drug-related activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Anyone with information regarding the discovery is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 0996 and the date 24 February.

It comes as more than 100 cops raided 13 properties in a series of dawn raids targeting one of Scotland’s “serious and upcoming organised crime crews”.

Crimebusters swooped on homes across the country as part of an 18-month long probe into an alleged multi-million pound drugs and dirty cash network.

The Scottish Sun joined crack squads on the Friday morning blitz that resulted in eight arrests – bringing the total number of suspects nicked so far to 36.

It’s the latest manoeuvre by cops involved in Operation Silhouette – an ongoing crackdown that’s already taken £6million in drugs off the streets and swept up £1.5million in cash.

Our team was there to see a plush home in Barrhead, near Glasgow, raided by a Police Scotland unit who pounced on the property before sunrise.

They forced their way through the door while cops at 12 other locations were doing the same in a co-ordinated takedown.
