The world of Star Wars is vast enough to explore many possibilities that Lucasfilm has not yet trodden—so massive that it has the potential to follow one of Marvel Studios’ most creative projects to date. The comic book movie empire has already done it with Disney+’s WandaVision with its ‘80s sitcom-themed program, which proved to be a success, so why not take inspiration from it?

Imagine a Star Wars show set in a sitcom format, with a storyline focused on the characters’ daily lives while channeling vintage fashion. It’s a brilliant example of a Lucasfilm version of What If.
Star Wars fan video showed us what it looks like as an ‘80s sitcom
With the advent of advanced technology, everything is now possible, especially with the introduction of artificial intelligence. It is a very controversial tool, but Hollywood and other high-end industries tend to seek its help in various aspects. While it presents ethical concerns for society, it can also help creatives generate ideas for future projects.
Take this AI reimagining of Star Wars. YouTube channel Saga Lore AI posted a video featuring the cast of the space saga franchise to the theme of an ‘80s sitcom. The clip seemingly looks like an opening credits where the AI-generated images of Mark Hamill, Alec Guinness, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, and Natalie Portman, among others, were shown with their character names.

Funnily enough, C-3PO was depicted as a mailbox, R2D2 as a washing machine, Chewbacca as a pet, and Yoda as a gardener. Darth Vader provided the narration in different scenes: “I sense a disturbance in the force which usually means your mother is out shopping… You don’t know the power of the thermostat. Leave it where I set it.”
Vader also mentioned his most famous line: “Luke, I am your father, and as long as you live under my Death Star, you follow my rules.” Then, he seemingly gobbled up that one huge piece of food after saying, “You were right about me. Tell your sister that I did eat that last slice of pizza.” The end scene saw Vader happily riding his bike while Obi-Wan Kenobi waved his hand.
Many fans expressed their awe with the concept and enthusiasm to watch a sitcom version of their beloved Star Wars franchise. After seeing this, it truly seems plausible to helm a story set in a small yet idyllic suburban while the characters deal with the daily mundanities of life.
Lucasfilm might want to try a different route

Adapting Marvel’s concept of What If may possibly be what the franchise needs for a fresh take. Some of the projects released by Lucasfilm over the past few years have been underwhelming, so a show set in an alternative reality could provide wonders and opportunities to expand the saga in a way we have never seen before.
While AI technology continues to explore various ways of aiding creatives in their work, it’s important to note that people should still be cautious of using it in a manner that doesn’t cross the boundaries of ethics.
