Mars Wrigley have launched Coffee Snickers, a bitter sweet twist on their classic peanut, caramel and chocolate combo.

The controversial new flavour comes after a whopping two years of development and 13 different product prototypes.

Shoppers learned of the release through NewfoodsUK on Instagram.

They captioned their post: “Brand new Coffee Snickers!! Wow, now this is perfect!

“We love Snickers and love coffee so this combo is a win win! We got this from UK website @worldsnacksuk use code: NewFoodsUK for a discount.”

But, the interesting fusion has divided opinion.

“Nooooooooo…. Disgusting,” said one.

“Oh goodness no,” another agreed.

While a third added: “Oh no, that’s so wrong”.

However, others were thrilled to hear about the new edition.

“Omg I would LOVE this,” penned a fan.

Another agreed: “Oh yes please!”

“The best Snickers yet”, said another.

But, the flavour has only been exclusively released in Australia.

Mars Wrigley Research & Development director, Chris Hutton, said: “We know how much Aussies love their coffee, and after two years of development and 13 different product prototypes, we’re excited to bring this new twist on Snickers to life.

“Snickers Coffee Flavour is a proudly Australian-made product, formulated by our local team in Ballarat to deliver on both taste and sustainability, and we can’t wait for fans to try it.”

Snickers Coffee Flavour was being sold exclusively at 7-Eleven stores but has now been launched in supermarkets.

While it has not hit UK shops, the chocolate goodie can still be ordered online.

They are just £2.99 on the World Snacks UK website and are shipped around the country.

This comes as Cadbury confirmed a new chocolate bar featuring an iconic biscuit is coming to shops within weeks.

Chocoholics were delighted to hear over the summer that the iconic treat maker was pairing up with Biscoff.

The bar will feature Cadbury Dairy Milk with pieces of caramelized shortbread Biscoff pieces.

Fans have been eagerly waiting for a release date, and now Cadbury has given an indication of when they can expect to see the delight on supermarket shelves.

The group said customers can expect to finally get a taste of the snack in just over a month’s time.

Eagle-eyed shoppers also spotted a rare Cadbury chocolate bar in B&M stores.

The Cherry Ripe Berry Truffle bars are back on shelves at the bargain store and shoppers say they are “banging”.

Cadbury’s Cherry Ripe chocolate bars are popular in Australia, and B&M has been known to stock treats from down under.

The Berry Truffle version of the bar is described as “one bar of luscious cherries and coconut with blackcurrant flavour in old gold rich dark chocolate sprinkled with coconut”.

How to save money on chocolate

We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.
